D1 vs D2 scenario

This has been great conversation - appreciate it. I swear someone ought to write a "softball for dummies (dads)" book - could make a killing.

Problem is when DD was 12u I would not have believed anything people said. Right now I am just jealous of the parents with a 2nd DD to actually work it right But not jealous enough to actually try at this point - just wait for GDD

I guess they could write it, but not sure who would buy it. To your point, a lot us weren't listening when our kids were in 12U or, in my case, even 14U. Who'd want a book that was speaking the unwanted truth that most of our DD's are not going to play for the "Big Programs"?

Most don't want to hear the truth, but I think there is something good about having dreams. Toughest part is balancing dreams/aspirations and reality. Parents/players need to know what needs to be done to reach those goals and work accordingly and be realistic with progress(or lack of) Grades are something ofeten overlooked in the process and can be a key wildcard- remember that freshman grades are more improtant than Senior Grades in this process

C'mon, he didn't say freshman grades were the most important thing, just that they're more important than senior grades in the recruiting process. You highlighted that text and didn't understand it? Of course, senior grades may end up being more important later on in order to be admitted and/or eligible.

At the age groups that major programs are recruiting, even freshman grades aren't necessarily available. Very few have a PSAT or a Pre-ACT, let alone an ACT or SAT.
