Inappropriate Music

What's on your mind?

by REALLY » Mon Mar 23, 2009 11:11 am

Here's my serious take on the OP question.

My DD may not understand what exactly is being said in the lyrics but the Coaches and Manager, who I entrusted as part of the organization to coach and be around 6-18yr old girls should know what it means; if not then they are not fullfilling there responsibility of providing a safe enviorment.

My main point is if there's some 20, 30, 40, 50, 60 ,70 plus something old adult who can sit there and watch a group of preteen - teenage girls dance to a song with those undertones then they have no right being on the field, in that role, or anywhere near those girls.

I think music is a great motivator, if not MP3 makers would not be able to come out witha new model monthly. We use it at practice during warm ups and pre game in the warmup area we also police the playlist.

seriously, i think if grandma, or aunt sue, or cousin debbie has come out to watch in the stands, they should be able to have a nice balanced experience. they shouldnt have to listen to a dad screaming about his kid not batting, a mom screaming at the ump, a drunk guy screaming at everyone, etc. or loud music that lessens their experience at the park.
i guess it comes down to common courtesy and having consideration for others.

Damn, there goes my invitation for Art to come to one of my team's games! OH WELL

Has you ever listened to any of "our" music growing up? So, if you as an adult don't like the music, then your kid can't either? ALOT of songs have suggestive lyrics. But, IT'S JUST MUSIC. As for playing between innings, I think you need to be respectful of other games going on, and as long as its low, it should be ok.
Go.....
Angels,
Raiders,
Lakers,
Trojans!

We have this goofy idea that the adults set the rules as to what is acceptable and what is not. Kind of like when we were kids, at least when I was a kid. As old fashion as I am, I find it inappropriate to have trash played talking about raping, referring to these beautiful young ladies as 'ho's , killing cops, as the 'artist' jumps around the stage, grabbing his genitals. I know its a lot easier to not be a parent but I made that decision some time back.

I agree and if they would just be somewhat clean it would eliminate a lot of the problem with the music!

Pornos have suggestive themes too, but they're JUST MOVIES. By your reasoning 2 Live Crew should be just fine too. Since it obviously is not, this is a question of line drawing. I draw the line quite a bit shy of "Superman the Ho."

And yes, if I as an adult don't like certain music because it is worthless trash and completely inappropriate for her (or for anyone else in a civilized society, for that matter), then my kid can't like it either. End of discussion.

Maybe the coach should just sit back inbetween innings and flip open his copy of maxim magazine as well it's just pictures and a few articles right...
