Does anyone know exactly what was said?
Was the jury split 11-1 on count one or not, I have read several different splits.
Did the coach ever dispute that he sent those messages, if so, how did he do that? What was his explanation for how these messages where sent from his phone? How was his attorney's able to prove that someone else sent those messages from his phone?
It seems that the only evidence the prosecution had and the only evidence that many posters on this board are basing his guilt on are these text messages, I'm just wondering how much do we actually know about the specifics of these messages.
Several players, including my daughter, testified that they communicated with the coach via text messages frequently. The former players, now playing D1 softball in major programs, testified they continue to stay in touch with the coach via texting and phone calls.
Players and other coaches testified that the coach "was always on his cell phone talking or texting". For those of us on the upside of 50 years, texting is a foreign subject. But for kids and people that work with them, it is very common practice.
By the way, the defense showed how sloppy and cursory the police investigation was - the Detective did not interview any of the other players except the victim's one friend, nor any of the other coaches that would have had occasion to witness alleged inappropriate behavior of the coach towards the victim during practices, or the coach's two roommates, who were both home during the alleged incident.
The Detective also didn't supenoa the coach's computer, email records, nor seize bedding samples to search for DNA.
