National Tourney Champs for the rest of us! PONY,USSA,NSA...

This is the thread I've been waiting for to give a BIG shout out to the USSSA 12u B champions Macon Noise!

Actually, I know nothing about this team I just like the name. I stumbled upon them as I was reviewing the results of multiple national tournaments USSSA runs (youngest dd's team placed 5th in one of them, should have been at least 3rd but we choked in the semis). I'm very familiar with a couple of teams mentioned on the lists as they are teams my dd's teams have played competitively with, losing some, winning some and some which I don't even remember the outcome.

I don't think the majority of participants or their parents in these tournaments care about the indifference of those that only follow national championship caliber tournaments, I'm sure most of them have never heard of the SC Athletics.

Why make the comment then, but to be derogatory and somewhat snobbish????
He does not know the teams because they are largely from the East and most don't venture west of the Eastern Seaboard.

First of all, it doesn't really matter WHY he doesn't know the teams. He doesn't know them. You could have picked a bunch of West Coast teams that he may not know. More importantly, not sure where you jump to derogatory and snobbish. It's true, he could have simply made no comment. But he chose to say it's uninteresting to him. So what? He can't say that without hurting your feelings? I've seen a lot worse on HB than to say I'm not particularly interested in a long list of teams I've never heard of.

What you have to take into account about the West Coast perspective is that with Utrip and NSA, and to a lesser extent, TCS, the teams that enter those tournaments consistently out here tend to be weaker competitively.

Bracky refers to Utrip and TCS as the 'side circuit'. Its not meant to be derogatory, but it truly is the minor leagues of West Coast travel ball. That isnt a bad thing as it it gives more girls more opportunities to play ball, but at a different level than playing ASA and PGF.

TCS had their 14u WS in So Cal and as a result drew its most competitive field ever, but that was an anomaly. With some teams TCS was their Nationals, while for others, it was merely a conveniently located tournament format tune up for ASA and PGF.

I certainly understand the the perspective- I do not think they fully understand how weak ASA is here in the Northeast. PONY was alway THE thing(mostly because it was the only thing) USSSA is actually making a big push in this area now and is threatening PONY's near monopoly.

The TCS "nationals" in Myrtle beach was a 12 team tourney in 2010 when my DDs team attended after it was in the NSA world series the week leading into. That TCS tourney grew much, much bigger it appears.

DD's team attended TCS in 2009 in Park City- we were the only team from the Northeast. Team did well and all involved had a great time

NSA put a little effort in the Northeast, but failed. They seem much stronger in places like Ohio, Illinois, Indiana etc... The teams we played from their were excellent

More and more teams from here are dipping their toes in Colorado & Rising Stars. ASA does little to push their agenda here and they have trouble getting quality teams to the Eastern Regionals- ASA is not on most organizations radar. Also, as distasteful as some of the ASA National locations are for those in California- those feelings are just as strong in the Northeast.

I feel PGF has unique opportunity to succeed where ASA failed. The idea of flying to a seaside community in SoCal to play softball strikes me as an easier sale than some place in the midwest or deep south(no offense to those locations) I think PGF could be what is needed to wake some potential sleeping giants in the Northeast JMO
