Not commenting on others' philosophies.
I will say there is stuff on both DDs iPods that is not "wholesome". Younger is more of the hip hop variety (Mom's taste) and older is more the head banging variety (my taste).
Older DDs just found out last week that she will be a valedictorian, going to a good academic (and good softball) school on partial scholarship in the fall. Younger DD so far has a perfect GPA and is a good ball player. Some fairly focused interest from some good schools.
SO FAR, so good (no guarantees).
At a school function, I was sitting with a teacher that has had them both in classes and he told me that he once asked older DD what her parents did that both DDs "turned out so well".
Her reply: "Love us and have high expectations."
That's all we do and the fact that our whole lives revolve around them. Actions speak louder than words and kids have very finely tuned BS detectors. Just being as involved in travel ball as most people that have little enough of a life to be on this time black hole is probably indicative that their kids know they love them and have as good a chance as anybody of coming out the other side just fine.
Skarp, you are welcome to fix that last sentence.
I see no hope for the future of our people if they are dependent on the frivolous youth of today, for certainly all youth are reckless beyond words.
