They don't give out a plaque for 7th so we'll never know if the coach would have smashed it or not. :P

I stayed at the same hotel as Team Mizuno and got a chance to get to know them. They are a great group of girls, coach's and parents. The girls told us what really happened with the trophy and were proud of it and THE GIRLS reason for doing it is all that matters.

Thanks team Mizuno for all the support you gave our girls during Nationals.

We recently had a trophy "incident" playing in TN (we are from AL). One pool double elim tourney. Our team was about to play in the W bracket finals (the last 2 teams remaining without a loss in bracket play). Then the rains came. TD yelled out from behind the backstop "Thanks for coming, have a safe ride home". So we packed up and were on our way out when one of the parents said "Why is the other team all still in the dugout?". Well come to find out, there was still going to be trophies handed out and a bat awarded to the 1st place team.
I asked the TD and he stated " Your team gave up more runs than the other, so they get 1st place". To which I replied " But we havent lost a game, and we beat the team you are giving 1st place to 6-0 in pool play". He told me pool play doesnt count.
Well I understand their reasoning and I didnt get all bent out of shape (although some parents did, God I hate facebook). I then asked the girls if they wanted their individual trophies for 2nd, everyone passed. The 2nd place team plaque I now take with us wherever we go and put it up in the dugout, as a reminder to the girls to never leave any doubt as to who won the game, tourney, etc.. I told em if we had played our best, we would have had the fewest RA and would have gotten the 1st place.
