DD Being Forced to Change her Number, might leave team!

What's on your mind?

by Blind Squirrel » Thu Feb 07, 2008 11:05 am

Wow (disgust)!!! 126 replies in a thread about a kid being upset about what number she wears. That this is even an issue speaks volumes about youth sports in this country. It also speaks volumes about how well many in this generation are being prepared for life in the real world. The good news, for me, is I'm going to get rich selling hermetically sealed bubbles for kids. Adult size will be available in a few years.

*sighs...
the whole #1 thing was more of a mindset than an actual number...

Yet another example of poor parenting. That kid could have been teased.

He was teased....
When he shows up in the hamster ball, Stan says "Oh, God. This kid's gonna last about five seconds out on the playground."

Then, at recess, Butters convinces the kid to come out of the hamster ball, and the kids proceed to duct tape him to the flagpole, confirming the kid's dad's worries about his son's safety in a public school...

I know that and thought of it instantly, so tell her, if you are counting, or writting the players doun in numerical order, the number 01, comes before the number 1. BTW my youngest daughter is #00, she figured out that no numbers anyone gets comes before her.

That is the wrong thought process. IF you have only one team to worry about, then yoiu can think that way. I don't know if you missed it or not. The girl came from a folded team within the same organization. The girl being moved on to the team has more time in the organization. Look at the entire picture. It starts with the organization first and what is best for the organization. Then it goes to individual teams. Then to the players.

The girl moving on to the team has more senority than the current girl. The team coach got it absolutely correct. It's been that way in every organization my daughter played for or I was involved with.

Look I think this woman is a little out of it just like everyone else. But I'm not sure the "Organization argument" always holds water. In So Cal, most teams under the same organization operate seperately (except TNL. Maybe a couple others I'm unaware of). If you're on Phil Adishians Corona Angels team, I don't think if the team folds you're going to walk onto Marty's team and rip a player's number.

Same goes for Dan Ristow's Firecrackers. If they disband and Tony picks up one of his seniors, Do you really think he's going to inform one of his stud D1 committed juniors "sorry babe, you're giving up the number". Not gonna happen.

Don't even get me started on the OC Batbusters. Can't see it happening.
