Fournier making big jump for Rebellion

What's on your mind?

As far as best pitcher ever at the DIII level- I would actually would give that to Haley Feindel who dominated when she pitched at the Coast Guard Academy(she is now serving in the Coast Guard in Alaska. She carried that team.

One thing also to note about Fournier. She did not pitch every game for Tufts, they used a rotation(and still went undefeated) Fournier had 5 losses in four years. One of them came at Babson in 2013 in a relief appearance on a 30 degree windy day(You take what you can get! :D )

She did well in 30 IP / 15 app. Here are the stats for her team - http://profastpitch.com.ismmedia.com/ISM3/std-content/repos/Top/2014%20Website/Statistics/Attention%20Gayelynn/pa.htm#team.mlb

She is not bad, but there is no book on her, really, who follows DIII ball. All of the profastpitch players have never seen her, she is an unknown from a DI perspective. Let's see how she does next year once players have seen her a couple times.

Averaging just 2 IP per App suggests opposing batters rarely got a second look at her in a game. I also only found 7.1 innings against the top 2 teams, Chicago Bandits and USSSA Pride, and they were all mop up duty. She started the last game of the season against the mid-place Akron Racers and didn't fare well - 4 ER without recording an out.

I think she got a taste of pitching against top hitters and found out where she stands vs the top pitchers. She's still looking for a job according to her LinkedIn profile - https://www.linkedin.com/pub/allyson-fournier/62/11a/532.

Btw. How have other pitchers done their first time through the softball pros?

Haylie Wagner was also a rookie on the PA team. See how she was used compare to AF.

Here - http://profastpitch.com/stats/2015_stats/. Do some research and let us know.

My DD says it is not her speed that gets you- it is her excellent location and tricky change of speeds-she keeps batters very off-balanced. At Tufts she had an excellent coach in Cheryl Milligan. She was able to swim on the swim team (which she would not have been able to do at DI) which built up her upper body strength tremendously. She was much bigger as a senior than she was as a freshman. Also, the NESCAC has no fall softball schedule or practices- so she got the rest that Sam always calls for(again something she would not see in DI) The last thing is she earned a Chemical Engineering degree from Tufts in four years- something that I doubt would happen at most DI schools

Amen to that. She really developed over the 3yrs she faced my DD. Once she mastered the changeup it really got hard for hitters. I guess I should be proud - my kid actually has a hit off her to go with about 6 strikeouts.
