I have found that good players with good academics are almost always found regardless of the field they play.

x2,,,,If your team contains players and have done their work, they do come.
Call me strange, but I am not a big fan of the Huntington Beach sports complex.
The short cut grass is nice.
I prefer the Fountain Valley complex, or Bill Barber Park.

So maybe we'll just sty home next year, because it's cold in California at this time anyways. Thank you for all your time trying though, appreciated!

I'm not from SoCal...but some who are from there are trying to help with your issue...Getting a bad attitude isnt a solution for you...
First.... who is saying what? Have you talked to anyone?
Do College Coaches want the 'big name' teams together?
Yep...especially in 18U...Kids are playing the same folks they'll see over their collegiate career...
Will you bump one of those teams...no...not until you've won as many high end tourneys etc as they have and you and your teams have that credibility...as corny as it sounds, you have to earn the chance to play against them...

But with that said...If / when you talk to a college coach....yes, you have to...
Do you say...Come see our TEAM or come see a kid, playing a position they're looking for?

Get the 'team' thing out of your mind as far as recruiting...they don't come look at 'teams' per sei...
They all have a plan of attack as far as who they're coming to see...period

Not coming, sticking your bottom lip and pouting is doing your players a disservice...
Even IF you don't play at Huntington Beach, the other fields, which some are even nicer fields...aren't far...
One sure way to fail to get your kids in front of coaches...is to not come

How much recruiting is actually being done at the "prime" fields for 18's? A lot of the colleges there are just checking on their commits, not to recruit players. If they are looking at players, it is likely ones brought up from a younger team for them to see.

When the schools are "baby sitting" commits, or looking at one or two available kids on a top tier team, it gives the mid level team's kids a chance to be seen, and those said teams recruiter a shot to talk to a big time coach about a kid,. You never know who is watching what, recruiting is a crazy business and crazy things happen. For the parents of these mid level teams, its bragging rights for them to say Suzy was being looked at by XXX, hear it all the time. Keep in mind also Suzy might not be a top tier recruit and parents want her to still walk on at XXX, so XXX is watching her, another shot for kids to be seen. All these kids want is an opportunity to be seen by a big time school and maybe a wish will be granted, you never know what money will free up and you never know what will happen .....

It is a crazy business and too many people rely on drive-by recruiting. It happens, but counting on it is akin to relying on winning the lottery to make your rent/house payment.

My point was too many people don't realize how much "baby sitting" goes on and think the coaches are there just to recruit. Hence, they place too much importance on getting on those fields. Many of us know players that routinely played on the "prime" fields and weren't recruited. I know of a couple seniors that lost their verbals last year and got new D1 deals while playing on the "2nd-tier" fields.

The efforts and connections of TB players and coaches are far more effective than relying on chance.

Couldn't agree more! Sooner or later they are going to want to see you play, and logistically if your on the same field as a commit it makes their job just a little easier

I really think field and placement does not matter. Recruiters were at nice fields in HB . But, also at not so great (Artesia) fields. teams were a combination of young and expirienced. College recruiters were there for specific talent and in our case to look at certain players that they have an interest in and not where or who they were playing. Although I did see a FC coach recruiting other players from a team called explosion, and another team, which I find extremly rude. But, thats a whole different thread. !
