Where??? McDonalds is a failure?[/quote]

no business has ever done BOTH - appeal to the masses AND discerning palates. You can have one but NOT both. In business this rule is often depicted by the Iron Triangle - you can have any 2 speed, quality or low cost but never all 3.

I see where you are going Jon but I am taking this from a much more extreme perspective. Example - Porsche is known for high quality but yes they do have a poor mans version (The Boxter) for the average Joe. Rolls-Royce another premium brand has decided against this and has instead stayed true to its elite reputation very similar to Buggati. Maybe the "Crackers" and "Busters" will have great success with their "Softball Boxter" but I don't think you can be shocked the Elite Porsche owners aren't impressed?

To take the other tack. Many luxury brands sell their name and label to lesser products. It annoys many, but is formula that does work

I don't know any of the teams and coaches involved except through hb If tony Rico is just selling the name or providing leadership and model for success- if there are buyers, more power to him. Not sure why anyone cares, if you don't like what he's selling don't buy.

Hey Southpaw dad look at Uber, just valued @ 18.7 billion about 10 days ago, lower fees than all taxis & the 2 rides I got back & forth from the airport were better than any taxis , that just kinda blows your argument outta the water

Pale Rider- glad to see an American capitalist who's not one of the SoCal "love em or hate em" crowd pointing out something I said over a year ago that 1)competition is good whether it's better or worse & 2) the more the merrier when it comes to teams trying to help girls reach their dreams

Jonriv- Firecrackers CA coaches all use the same drills with all players fielding grounders, throwing to bases & rotating to all positions & have access to Rico's facility etc. Honestly, like in life you have some good, bad, average & great teachers in school

Sometimes you get what you want, sometimes you get what you need, but you always get what you get.

Yes I agree it does work IF you manage the Brand properly. Common Brand failures are quality and management. I wonder if any of the softball franchises have processes and procedures around these?

Can any person coach a "Cracker" or "Buster team?
Is there a standard test to determine if a player is "Cracker" or "Buster" worthy?

I know Tony and Gary couldn't possibly be involved with each and "Cracker" or "Buster" team around the Nation.

If you are familiar with managing luxury brands you probably are familiar with "Premium" Outlet concept. This stores sell discontinued items or special SKUs only found in these stores. The reason why is it significantly reduces that amount of irritation of existing customers because the brand retains its identity at the product level.

 Gary obviously understands this with Premium PGF and Platinum PGF

exD1 how does this blow my argument out of the water? Uber isn't a luxury brand? Uber is going after the masses similar to McDonalds. I never said McDonalds wasn't profitable - Over 1 Billion Served right?

The only thing I said was I am not taking my wife out for our anniversary dinner to the same location I stop at with my DD while coming home from PGF Qualifier

If you can provide me a (high quality) luxury brand that appeals to the masses (affordable) I am all ears :?:

I could care less about capitalism at this point. What I see are poorly coached teams. I could care less about level of competition. Those teams will show up as some other name.

It is simply sad to see parents, kids and coaches dolled up in "cracker" gear only to walk away with their heads down. At this point it doesn't matter the age or who the coach is. You can give "Coaching Softball 4 Dummies", a pair of Dickies and a flat billed hat and it still doesn't mean they will coach a great team or teach girls.

I call it crap to those who say all these teams are healthy or one day will be. This isn't make lemonade from lemons... It's just bitter tasting for the game.

It doesn't matter what it says on the Jersey...You can get your ass handed to you regardless...
I LOVE seeing "Gold' or Elite on an opposing team...That USED to mean something...And some teams think because it SAYS Elite mean they are...but its just a word...

As far as coaching...Perhaps access to the Coaches of other teams within that organization will help...
The best organizations will help their coaches...
The lemons to lemonade thing?...Would their results be different if they did their own thing?
Trust me...The REAL ballplayers will improve simply to uphold the name...
The ones who wont...wont, regardless...That's why theres probably 3x the number of 10U kids playing than 16U....The game weeds itself out...

Mine plays for a Mizuno org...Not in SoCal...and I KNOW my contact with Team Mizuno will help my kid out with anything...she'd stand on her head and stack BB's if he told her to...
She will bust her butt for him, and he has always done the same...He expects her best...accepts nothing less and she delivers...Not perfection...nobody is perfect...But She gives 100%, all out...
and the BEST part of it...He LOVES doing what he does...Shows on his face...I told him that...the 'grin' isn't fake...and you cant fake caring...Kids will see thru that in a heartbeat...
So what he makes a living doing it...wished I made money doing something I loved doing...

Just for clarification Bruce does not collect money from his other teams.
Carry on as you were.

Thanks SpazDad clarification noted!
