Inappropriate Music

What's on your mind?

by hugedaddy » Mon Mar 23, 2009 8:21 am

 Censorship??
Are you serious?
We just do not impose our beliefs and choice on others even when they do act annoying and tasteless to our account. Not saying to walk away but don't get stupid next thing you'll be burning books at the library..Censorship is a great tool.personally i believe it should be done at home,so i can turn up my music."

So I am assuming if someone were to just speak these same words to you daughter it would be appropriate for you? Are you concerned about "censorship" because it is "music"?

Bottom line - don't we all send our kids to friendlies and tournaments to play softball? If I wanted my daughter to get down to some ghetto music I would be sending her to a club instead. 8-)

Probably the same percentage of kids that hear the Star Spangled Banner and have no idea of it's meaning ... ya just can't dance to it ... ... anyway, if you tell kids that they can't listen to it, that's the first thing they'll do when your head is turned ... if you make an observation and point out how derogatory the lyrics are without forcing it down they're throat, they will often make the right decision on their own ... but playing any music at a tourny loud enough for anyone to hear out of your group is discourteous .... if you allow your team or another to do it, that's the lesson you are teaching them ... no class !

Very few, I'd guess. Because the ones who do know make sure to tell the ones who don't. Word spreads quickly. Thinking back, I remember songs like "sugar walls," "knocking at your back door," etc. We all knew what they meant.

Besides, pretty much everyone over 10 knows what "ho" means. I've never heard the song personally, but I can guarantee that it's not on any of my kids' iPods.

I'll go on record saying I like the music between innings. Brooke's Dad did an excellent job and a few around here have continued the tradition. There was a team we played this weekend with one- not too loud and music was motivating. Just hope the future DJ's use some common sense in their music selection.

While I didn't know the lyrics completely, and definitely not the meaning, every '96 or older kid here knows that dance and can perform on cue.

I scrubbed my DD"s iPod playlist over spring break. Even without her knowing the iTunes password, some inappropriate songs have made their way on. It's all dads fault. :P
