May not be the intention but that is what it ends up being for some.... As a coach your obligation is to make sure you are putting your players in the best possible situations to succeed or in this case be seen. If you have the opportunity to add an opportunity why would you bring outsiders before yours.... Unless you want to make them insiders as well.... Not how everyone did or does it but let's be real...

Absolutely, I agree. I just didn't understand in the beginning why everyone at the tryout seemed to be from the same organization. Now, I do.

And, I was just wondering if that's how tryouts went for this tournament in other parts of the country.

They say you don't have to be a part of their organization to try out. However, you can lay odds that you will become part of whatever team you try out for. If not, you probably wont play. Not to mention its a good way build and add players to an existing team for the following season.

regarding the last few comments about organizations taking girls on their existing team, etc.
I'm not saying it's a bad thing, and it totally makes sense from that org's standpoint.
But players not in the org that are trying out should be aware of this, because it seems like it is something in the fine print, not really publicized.

From what I understand... this year coaches are allowed to take a maximum of 10 players from their own organization and the remaining players should be from other teams. This rule is new for this year's tryouts... last year there were no rules regarding how many players could be chosen from a coaches travel team.
