I can do better than that...
our tournament this past weekend....we had an umpire - older lady - home plate
every time she called someone safe she held one fist up and her other fist under that elbow....(the sign for "out") and when she called someone out she made the "safe" signal....
When our coach finally approached her to explain to her why EVERYONE in the stands was sooo upset - other team included - she told him that that is the way she was taught and that is the way that she was going to continue to do it and if the comments kept up she would abandon the game.!!!!
the outfield umpire - younger guy - was laughing hysterically at her!
as were we!

We went 2 - 3, beat Cal Thunder and Pumas, lost to Grapettes, Corona Angles and Texas Storm. Not bad for our first weekend out, were missing one player to VB that hurt us a little in the OF and speed departments.

ahhhh.... ok.... how about this one...

Runner on third, foul ball beyond 1st base, 15 feet foul, right field tries to make a diving catch, ball hits tip of glove as she rolls into the fence on the first base side with the ball on the ground.

Runner on 3rd goes (which is strange), ump calls her safe (even... stranger). Says the fielder made a play on the ball, therefore, it was live whether she caught it or not. Coach for the runner is laughing and can't believe it. Coach for the team on the field say "whhhhaaaaat ????". Umps sezz that's the way it is, it's in the rulebook, look it up if you are too stupid. The folks in the stands, both sides, didn't let that one go for a couple innings. It was a showcase so the play didn't mean that much. I guess "showcase" also means "this is ASA's best at work"....
