Yes - that is me - the big fat guy with the big loud cooler!


And I 100% agree low budget is not the way to go.

I had maybe 20 people (at HOF) say "man, will you make me one for our team"?

To which I replied - "Sure - and I will make it for $100 over my cost - and provide all the receits.

Then I tell them how much it will cost and they all just kinda smile and move on....



The Cooler we brought to last weeks HOF was a brand new design (internally) and MY cost was approx. $1,000.

I have made them and sold them to GTS and at 16U in Katy and several other teams - never a complaint... except the cost

that probably has alot to do with the boombox being liked by both sides...

And the volume, but basically yeah. The problem of course is that these contraptions are "for the girls" because "the girls like them"...which of course means the girls are also picking the music. Recipe for a migraine.

Fact is, I don't feel the slightest need to keep my kid perpetually entertained...least of all when it comes at the expense of my peace of mind. I came (and paid!) to watch a softball game, not a three-ring circus. Now get out there and entertain me you little brat!

We saw this at the Colorado Fireworks tourney last year. Great invention...well made too. Our kids/parents (coaches not so much) loved it.

BTW, great team, coaches and parents (only one dufus...but we all have em). Just wish we'd have played you guys in the finals...would've been a doozy...

Not to be left out in the moron thread.

Wouldn't it be easier to use a pre-made box. Growing up in the car audio boom and having way to many speakers, in way to small of a car, it seems like an easier route. As for straight aesthetics, I am sure the cooler looks way better, but as far as having a sealed space, making sure no backpressure is lost into the front side of the cabinet, etc., the cooler seems like a poor choice sound wise.

Tell me it still holds ice and drinks, and you might push me off the fence on this one.

Hey, now you're trying to rob me of the last vestige of satisfaction I get out of this absurd phenomenon...knowing that the dummies came out of pocket a grand for the silly thing. That almost (but not quite) makes it tolerable.

Between the portablity and the "wow" factor - the cooler was the way to go.


The cooler is a GREAT "speaker box" as their is a very well defined / sealed whoofer box and the innerads are very well contained under the lid.


And with the wheels - my 6 yr old son can move it - even though it is quite heavy.
