And... swing several bats of team mates. Many. Assure your daughter that the graphics mean nothing, price means nothing, logo means nothing, fashion means nothing. Or, another way of saying it is, which would your rather have? A $300 fashion statement bat and an occasional hit or a $100 used bat that feels right and helps her generate hits?

If you are working with a hitting coach ask that coach about her ability to generate bat speed and he/she may recommend a length and/or weight. And... don't overlook used bats in good shape. I think a lot of pitchers LOVE seeing batters with $300 bats and no bat speed, uncoached marginal technique, missing the ball by a foot. The bats sure are pretty, though...

Only a little over an hour til the weekend officially starts here

I have to be on the road by 5:30 or so in the morning for a 9:00 am game, so I'm not going to have much time to enjoy it.

I dunno about you guys out west, but we're gonna have a hot one here in the mid-atlantic area....supposed to be 95 tomorrow and 97 Sunday at our tournament

Heh, my DD pitched in a league game a few weeks ago, 8 pm game, it was 61 when we were warming up....then it started sprinkling rain. By the end of the first inning, it was 47 and levelled out there (and kept lightly raining the entire game). Her team does wear pants, but she didn't wear anything under her team uni (sleeveless) shirt.

She did tell me at the beginning of the last inning that her entire pitching arm and hand were so numb that she could hardly feel the ball (and yes, she was wearing a jacket in the dugout when she wasn't batting). I told her the quicker she got 3 outs, the quicker we got in the nice warm car and got home.

9 pitches and 3 K's later, we were heading to the parking lot

I'm thinking of holding her down with her pitching hand in an ice bucket between innings, as well as she pitched that night
