2.6 what you say is true; however, your statement could be generalized to say:
The best defense against anything is dominant pitching. If you have one, why work on "D" at all? Unfortunately, I see that too often at the lower levels.

BUT, I just called Dominant Pitchers R Us, and they are out of stock (again) , so I guess we'll just have to keep defending the slap.... and shifting your fielders to where you believe they will most likely hit is not a gimmick defense. Good hitters adjust, the defense adjusts, the beat goes on...

I'm with 2.6 on this one. A good slapper will place the ball where the players are not.
I typically use a standard bunt defense. Challenge her to beat you straight up.
Incidentally....my daughter is a slapper. Her favorite defense to see is when the 2nd baseman is up by the circle. That and an inside pitch and she's rounding first daring the centerfielder to throw behind her.

If they're breaking for 1st too early in the box (wrong way), then definitely low and outside.

For the aggressive ones, besides low and outside, add in off speed. Doesnt work for the super freaks, but then not much does.
