USA Softball releases list of identified athletes from 2015

What's on your mind?

by fastpitchdad05 » Mon Dec 07, 2015 6:39 pm

Out of respect for Brentt Eads at FloSoftball I'm not going to share the list here. You will need to get a subscription.

BUT...WOW!

No disrespect to the fine organizations represented here and what I'm sure are excellent athletes, but please tell me that this is not the only group of girls that will be considered and included in the selection process. Many of the top organizations in the country including OCBB, So Cal A's, Firecrackers. Corona Angels, Beverly Bandits, et cetera have no representation in the current list.

There's no way we're getting the best athletes unless ALL girls are considered.

If softball is included in the next Olympics let's keep in mind that the USA lost the last time they were there. We need the best of the best.

Here's the original article and list - http://www.teamusa.org/USA-Softball/News/2015/December/04/USA-Softball-releases-list-of-identified-athletes-from-2015-USA-JO-Cup.

These are only the players "identified" from the ASA/USA JO Cup and the article says they're being added to the identification pools with previously identified players. I know some players picked up with teams for 18G Nats in hopes of being identified.

I expect there will be a tryout for other players before the selection camp like there was this year.

Actually, the FloSoftball article is not behind the pay wall. Probably because it is just the ASA press release...

Wait a second... Read the header. These were the players chosen from the JO Cup. No wonder why none of the top orgs are represented.

There are dozens of players needing to be on the list. Sad if there isn't a Non JO Cup list.

JO just became as relevant as Pony League Softball.

No it is not. But it is exactly what is expected. ASA deployed a 'hunker down' and hang on until the samwiches run out strategy 6 years ago. I have no expectation that will change anytime soon.
