Baseball vs. Softball Swing

Hi Everyone,

I can't figure out why some coaches insist on saying a softball swing differs from a baseball swing. Just looking for some thoughts /opinions from everyone.

At one time we taught the swings the same. Then, we changed to a "swing down on the ball" system. Then, we decided that the swings are actually the same and we changed back.

I guess not everyone can keep up.

LOL. Kristen Rivera has better swing mechanics anyway. Wish I could've found a better/bigger

just kidding about nuevemann...i know she can hit, just had a bad olympics...

to echo tucson, i remember going to the ACE clinics years ago in our league.
one year it was "start from the chest, short compact swing, swing down to meet the angle of the ball coming up"...so that year the coaches in our league taught that...then the next year, it was "right view pro", seperate elbow from body, load, explode, and baseball/softball are the same.

I think they are basically the same, but everyone has their own style...

I still think Caitlin Benyi (UCLA) has one of the best mechanical swings- baseball, softball, whatever. That other Kaitlin girl isn't too bad either.

My kid takes hitting lessons from someone who played in the minor leagues. She has also had her swing analyzed by a college coach at a clinic who said she has great mechanics. So she learned the swing from a baseball guy and told she has good mechanics by a softball coach. I went to a clinic given by Sue Enquist and she shows photos of A-rod and Lisa Fernadez side by side showing the swings are the same (that is the right-view pro approach). I would agree with them.
