How I found out the results of Gold Medal game

The game started quite early in my part of the country and continued until after I had to be at work. As Ive done for the rest of the games I relied on my friend the DVR. The group I work with are bored silly with the way I go on about softball so I figured they wouldnt be a source of information so all I needed to do was avoid ESPN. I knew when I got home I should avoid Hey Bucket, softball blogs and not to open email concerning softball.

Good plan except the thoughtless blabbermouth Marc Dagenais of softballperformance sent out an email, shortly after the game ended, with the result in the subject line. Other emails had subjects like "Concerns Gold Medal game" or some other warning.

I am still going to watch the game Ive been waiting for all year, but its kinda like kissing my sister now. I thought his web site was marginal before this blunder, but now it is striken from my softball favorites.

I dont wish ill to anyone, but if someone told his kids the secret about Santa...

If that is the worst thing that happens in your day consider yourself lucky. With everything that is happening in the world if only everyone could only experience having a score ruined as a the worst thing we would be much better off. I am sure that Marc meant no harm. Impulsive yes, earth shattering no.

Yep, I too saw the score in the topic of a thread. it just seems like people can't resist being the 1st to post something. Doesn't it occur to people that those that saw the game already know the score?

It reminds me of when I have read the morning paper and then my 89 YO mother calls me and reads me articles out of it.

"Amy, did you see that Obama is going to announce his running mate in Springfield?" "Yes, mother. I read that." "Well, it says ........." aaaarg.

No need to go ballistic about it, but certainly no one wants to be spoiled unless they make that decision for themselves. Its a pretty common thought proces. No biggee either way but to me its just common courtesy.... its like opening the door for ANYONE walking behind me, not just a female...

What if someone you work with, knowing that you love softball, walked up to you and said, "Man, I bet you're really bummed about the US softball team losing the gold medal." Would you have punched him/her in the face? Vowed to never speak to that person again?

How do you like what one of my colleagues at my high school said? He is a Lacrosse coach and I am the Varsity Softball Coach ( by the way, we have won four state championships, LAX has won none ).

He says, " What does USA Softball have in common with the 1980 Soviet Ice Hockey team? "

Knowing what happened when the US beat the Soviet Union in a huge upset, all I could say was, " Oh my God." Then I told him that he was a really humorous guy and I hadn't seen the game yet, but thanks.

Then I asked him when LAX won a state championship last. He shut up
