coaching first base

I tend to be overly aggressive on the bases. This is a team with 6 new girls to the team, my DD being one of them. She played travel last year, but i didn't coach so I have some experience watching the level of play.
We have only had three practices due to rain, so I don't really know the names of all the players yet, let alone there base running abilities. Guess it will be an experience.

May I ask why a first base coach never gets to argue calls??

A) You are very likely wrong.
B) The manager very likely won't want to argue a call he/she is likely to lose.
C) Its not your place to argue...it is the manager's.
D) You are very likely destroying what little respect the manager has built with the umpires.
E) The umpire doesn't argue with you when you screw up.

I guess its a chain of command issue. The only exception I imagine is if the play was at 1st and the 1st base coach got the best look. 1st base pulled her foot, etc. At least the coach could signal to the head coach its a bad call??

I think a signal is OK....I just don't want my 1B coach getting in an umpire's face....I want to approach the umpire calmly and explain my view of the play in question and listen for the umpire's explanation....if I think there was something the umpire missed and his/her partner may have had the angle to see it better, I want the umpire to consider asking the partner for help....getting in their face doesn't do anything to accomplish that. I want the same approach to the umpires...just about every time....I like to build a rapport with them so that they will consider my requests, if applicable.

I find slipping them a 20 is the most effective method of approaching the blue. For rec ball games using youth umpires, I make sure to have a supply of Gamestop gift cards.
