Thirteen year olds throwing at 43 feet? Man , I guess "we" came up in the wrong era. At 16U nationals "we" had to deal with Jackie Traina at 40 feet.

As I recall it, OC Batbusters (Myers) squeaked out a 2-1 win over Team North Florida. However Traina got the last word two years later when she put the OC Batbusters (Haning) in the loser's bracket at Gold Nationals by the same 2-1 score.

They meekly lost their first game in the losers bracket to a team from Nebraska I'd never heard of thus ending "2.6's" youth career We went to the movies the rest of the week.

Come to think of it we had a similar experience earlier this month when they went 2 n BBQ at the WCWS on the very same field. And yes, we hung out at the same movie theater. Went to see The Avengers.

Yes, cherish the time you have now. At 15, I'm sure you already realize how quickly it goes by. I can't believe "our" journey will be entering it's final season next year.

Trophy Hunter... you are, once again, out of touch. Colleges scouting 14U? Are you kidding? Way too late. We considered 40 and really can't go to 43 right now because of the height of the average girl. As it is, we would be struggling with 40. If you set the T-ball up at 40 inches most of the girls just are not tall enough and have to swing the bat like an axe. A 43 inch T-Ball setup will just make it worse.

We use 28-30 inches and work up. This advice was given to us by the all coaches scouting our T-Ball'ers, of which 5 have committed (Cal, Bama, OK, AZ and one social ingrate going to NESCAC based on her superlative kindergarden grades). Full rides, of course, to all the non-NESCAC players. This has been a great experience but we still continue to work on the basics: ignore the cute puppy in the stands, don't look for 4-leaf clover in the outfield, clouds are neat and they do make many funny shapes... and no more than 3 players running on a base at one time... and first base is "that-a-way". Dog piles on a grounder are ok (team effort!). Check your pre-school packet for PAC12 and SEC coaches email addresses. Birthing videos not required... yet.
