Slightly off the subject (the umpire) but related.

Slappers should never, imo, be in danger of being out of the box. Blasting through the box toward the pitcher makes it more difficult to get your momentum going toward first base. Worse, it impacts swing decisions and bat control negatively imo. More controlled, deliberate movement through the box allows you to read pitches better, punish pitchers for throwing change ups, improves ability to "turn right" and never finds you out of the box at contact.

Like you know anything about slappers.

Is the DD all healed up from the softball season?...the last pix posted had her holding ice packs on various appendages

3'sDad... apologies for the tardy response....yes, ended up losing in the NCAA quarterfinals but, in reflection, everyone was proud of a 36-6 season (and they should be). Ice bags worked their wonders as they always seem to. She was told "no heavy squats" during weight training. Summer conditioning is in progress. It's really "stay in shape" vs "get in shape". The ice bags will return in 8-9 weeks as she starts playing volleyball as a libaro.

As a parent, I think her excitement, commitment and enthusiasm to play two college sports is great. But... but... if I were to pick two sports/positions that are hardest on the legs, high on the list would be softball/catcher, volleyball/lebaro. The obvious concern is her movement ability in 20 years after significant abuse.
