red shirts

Need some help can someone give me the goods and bads of being a 10u red shirt for a team. We have a very young 9 who has been offered a red shirt position because of her potential to be a great pitcher. First of all fill me in on the term red shirt. Need some coments please.

Are you kidding me??? A re shirt in 10U travel. RUN RUN RUN, they are trying to take your money. Red shirt means that she will not get playing time but will love to take your money and have them practice with the team. At least in college when you red shirt, you still get to go to school on their dime. That is about the saddest thing I have ever heard!!!
