Its an arms race so if they can lock in that 14 year old before any other school does then their ahead. My opinion is its way to early, a friend of ours verballed as a freshman and was on top of the world but now that she's a senior and bigger and stronger she now realizes that she could've gone to a better school. She can't back out of the deal because then her TB team will look bad towards future recruiting at that college. Believe me if you're getting the attention at 14 you will have them at 15, 16, and 17. Some PAC 12 schools committed to 2012's this summer so I think that there's always room and from what I was told is that they always save money for 1 or 2 players that nobody recruited earlier.

I agree it is to young and mistakes are being made. But I would not argue you hold out for too long. The problem is that money does go away. Even for the studs. Yeah, some 2012's were get offers in their senior year, even by a PAC 12 team, but that may have been OSU.

As of September 2010 I can tell you Oregon, ASU, UCLA, UofA, UW and Cal had no more money for 2012's. I know that from working with them. That does not mean that you will see zero additional money commits, but that does mean they are no longer looking at the 2012 class and they are eyeing the majority of their money for the 2013 class.

There is always going to be "late money" freeing up in the PAC-12 and any other school for that matter, however it may happen, various circumstances occur. I sure in the heck was not going to tell the school where my DD wanted to attend "uhmmm DD is a little young can you hang onto that offer for a year or so until I feel we are ready to make a decision", sorry too many studs that can go yard. I have all the confidence in the world in my DD, but to play with house money like that, I will just say i have never been a good gambler ...

I will say that ALL of the schools that recruited my kid, none of them put the heat on about giving them a decision, they were all very professional in their approach..

It wasn't OSU it was one of the above mentioned. It's not that serious if you believe me or not it happenend. It wasn't a full ride like everyone's kid here on HB gets but was a decent percentage. You hear alot of stories of full rides then when you go through the process and you realize that most everyone is blowing smoke. What we learned is the softball program will offer X amount of money and will help you find X amount of money (grants, merit etc.) so X amount will be a little less on the parents wallet.
