Travel Head Coach and High School Varsity Head Coach

My daughter might have an opportunity of playing on an 18U travel team this summer (she is a freshman). The head coach of the 18U travel team is also the head varsity coach of her high school. Wondering if people had experiences with this scenario and how it worked out.

It could be but if you were in Texas, it would be illegal (i.e. against UIL rules). You wont go to jail - but your kid would be disqualified for the next year.

If this team is the best team and most well coached team your DD can get on, these should always be the deciding factors on choosing a team. Until recruiting time, Then you want her to get on the team with the best recruiting record she can get on. At that time the record of getting kids recruited becomes more important than coaching, playing time or winning.

Perfectly legal with many private schools.

Here in CT coach is allowed 4-5 on travel team(I believe)

If a good coach- go for it
