Saw an announcement today with that exact title. The rest of the announcement read:

"We are now offering $1000 cash toward our pitchers personal pitching lessons."

Now, it doesn't say "provide $1000 worth of free pitching lessons." It says they are "offering $1000 cash."

P.S. I predict this will become the most viewed topic in Heybucket.com history.

My question is: What if this comes back to haunt some young girl trying to get a scholarship, and she's accused of accepting payment to play?

No different than the 'fully sponsored team' and should be banned from all amatuer sports. NCAA has been having a great time with this one for decades.

Dont remember all the specific questions, but when my daughter was filling out her clearinghouse information a couple of years ago I can remember thinking to myself, how do these girls that have played for some of the fully sponsored teams still qualify as amatuers? It asks about travel expenses being paid for, or reimbursed, equipment etc. It is my understanding that some of those sponsored teams have every expense covered in full, not to mention free equipment for all of the players.

Wouldn't this be like when the olympics were actually amatures? Their travel, training and expenses were paid for by "sponsors". As long as the kids are not receiving money in their bank accounts or their parents driving around in new hummers I think that its okay.
