legal or not... I would check with your team or org. know a girl who was give the boot from her TB team for doing just this. Many teams and orgs frown on this type of thing, gives the wrong image to the over all group.

I've seen lots of kids through the years raise money to help fund trips abroad, Washington D.C., etc., by sitting in front of super markets asking for donations. I am not sure this case is so different, it's just that I don't think most have ever seen it done before for travel ball, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's wrong. What I have seen that I know works are people sending out letters asking for sponsors and having a lot of success. Both of my dd's started working at 12 for our local rec league scorekeeping and doing fence crew. They would also give lessons to little girls in batting, throwing, and pitching. It was a lot of hard work and sweat equity but they looked at money differently once they started earning it. We would give them a certain amount of spending money on trips and anything they wanted beyond that came out of their money. If this is the right team for your daughter then having her do some work to help with the expenses will have her more invested in her team and her training. Good luck and I hope it works out well for your dd and your family.

Personally, I dont have a problem with it. However, I would only use the funds for tournament fees and not lodging and meals.

As for fundraising, we have had issues where it was the same few parents doing all the work. Later fundraisers I ran, included the provision of monies earned were divided among the players represented and the team all getting an equal share. We made some good money and had better participation. Some parents didn't have to write a check all season as they were willing to put in the hard work.
