Making the Fresno Force Tourney the HOF qualifier is a great idea!

My original question was; is the FF an indicator of the top teams ...NOT should people stop attending.

I just wanted to see what people's opinions were now that State and FF were done?


Not sure that the question can be answered since many of the teams that attended the Force did not attend States and vice-versa. I'm just trying to keep the board lively with some new topics.

I think the draw of the Force Classic is that it is an early indicator of the top teams and a gage coaches use to fix their teams. Also, State only has SoCal, where the Classic has NorCal, CenCal, SoCal and more and more teams from outside the Region 14.

I am still looking for feedback on the new format or should we go back to straight Pool and Bracket play.

I thought the 8 team “pool brackets” for Saturday and the gold/silver split for Sunday was an excellent format. It would have been hard for any team to complain that a low finish was caused by a bad draw in pool play. The gold/silver split also allowed all the teams to start the trip home by a reasonable hour.

I like the idea of making the Fresno Force Classic a HOF qualifier for teams from any region, i.e., a national qualifier. I would also like to see the Region 14 authorities consider awarding regional tournament berths to the top 8 or 10 finishers in Fresno who do not otherwise qualify at a later date. There are many quality teams that finish outside of the top 11 at the SoCal Association Tournament and, under the current format, their options for qualifying for ASA Nationals become rather limited and/or cost prohibitive.

I think the new format was a hit.. plus people have the rest of the summer for normal straight pool and bracket play.

FF should definately be a HOF qualifier.. at least.

The format is great, very good to have pool games matter. Keep it that way, and making it a HOF qualifier will likely draw even more teams.
