ATWT are you looking for a public linching??
This was a TCS event, but at present I do not see their name (Cal Cruisers Mel) on the last 2 events of fall season.
However Surf City still likes their money,,,, and they are listed on their site for Jan.
So,,my question would be,,,do our governing bodies just want the money, or to build and play better ball?
If they are OK with that kind of behavior,,,then it must be OK.

We could be 40-50 year olds who bash 16-18yr old catchers and pitchers who played the knock out game.

Not at all, Hare.
I think they are lucky, it appears no one got hurt.
Imagine if that umpire would have been injured, a couple of young lives would have been ruined and the publicity would have gone national.
What the heck were they thinking?

This was a teachable moment for everyone involved. Based on what it looked like on the video, next time it should be on the 3rd or 4th pitch. 1st pitch was too obvious. Was that last pitch a ball or a strike? She did hit her target.

...well if that was my kid
A. Getting ejected would be way down on the list of things she better be worried about.
B. She wouldn't play for someone who asked / told them to do that...*If the Coach asked / told them to do it*

As far as future play for that coach / team...given the evidence? But I'm sure some folks condone that type stuff...seen worse

Saw a HS Coach tell a catcher to hit a batter in the head TWICE in a row on a throw to 3rd...last time there wasn't even a runner on 3rd...
Absolute scum...

I would add
C. Confront Mel immediately and call him out for being the cowardly POS he is for ordering a kid to deliberately hit someone. If you want to assault someone, have the balls to do it yourself.

Fastpitch is a small world. What kind of credibility will Mel now have with college coaches?

Its a freaking game. Time for some people to wake up...

Lots of questions to be asked here.
It's obvious that the coach told those girls the "plan" when he walked out into that circle.
This means that the infield knew the plan.

Why did this team obey?

Why did this Pitcher throw that pitch?

Why did the catcher duck out and allow the pitch to hit the umpire?

They all had choices to make. In the end, the catcher could have caught that pitch in spite of the coach. She was the last one who had the opportunity to change the direction of this scenario.
I wonder why she made that choice?

I wonder if any of our daughters would really have made a different choice in the same scenario?

I wonder?

Why did the 3rd base coach, base runners and batter all talk during the defensive conference? Did they know what was coming?

Why didn't the batter swing at that pitch?

What if the coach tried to talk the pitcher and catcher out of what happened?

The pitcher gave him 4 batters to find his zone. She gave him one pitch to show him hers.
