RIP Barry Grumman

What's on your mind?

by blackwidow » Mon Oct 14, 2013 8:00 am

With great sadness I report that Barry Grumman passed away yesterday. A brain scan shown no signs of brain activity.
The family made the decision to take Barry off of life support, and that was done on Friday.
Barry is survived by his 4 children and his Riptide family.

God, filled with mercy, dwelling in the heavens' heights, bring proper rest beneath the wings of your Shechinah, amid the ranks of the holy and the pure, illuminating like the brilliance of the skies the souls of our beloved and our blameless who went to their eternal place of rest. May You who are the source of mercy shelter them beneath Your wings eternally, and bind their souls among the living, that they may rest in peace. And let us say: Amen.

I would have posted something last night, but, him passing has been very hard on our Family. My dd is not handling this all to well and neither have. He was a great help to us when we had a car accident and a huge cheerleader for my dd and we never played for him.

He was one of the good coaches who did this for all the right reasons, not for money, but for the love of the game and the girls.

You will be truely missed!!!

Our prayers go out to his family and all of his loved ones!!! God Bless Barry from the whole Punishers Organization!!!

This is a bit of a shock as I just saw Barry at State and have spoken to him since. Barry Grumman supported me when I coached at Newport Harbor and has shared his experience and advice numerous times over the years to help me become a better coach. He did coach for the right reasons and with a decent respect for the game. I will always appreciate the respect and encouragement he gave me. RIP Barry.

Condolences to the Grumman family and the Riptide Organization.

An early loss of a teacher is a great loss for all.

RIP Barry. In just 1 month, you made more things happen for my daughter than any other coach. You will be greatly missed. The current Riptide girls will make you proud and they know that they have a special coach looking over them, not only for the rest of the season, but for the rest of their lives.
