Cal pitcher employs toe flap and wins PAC pitcher of week

Everything you want to know about the greatest game

by PDad » Tue Feb 24, 2015 11:03 am

California sophomore Katie Sutherland-Finch won three games in the circle this past week to take home Pac-12 Pitcher of the Week, the second week in a row a Golden Bear has won the award.

Nice job, however she pitched with a flap added to her shoe to avoid IPs being called. smh

What is a toe flap???
Is it what is sounds like, an extension that goes on toe of cleat so you can crow hop and still have drag?

Wear a special size 15 mens shoe on one foot that hinges on the extension.

Nothing like eroding the sport's integrity  I hope the NCAA rules on this - immediately

Before I go into production, I need to understand a couple things.
When starting pitch on mound, the flap must be tucked under so toe flap does not extend over rubber.
Once the pitch starts if pitcher is a double planter she may extend trailing foot beyond rubber as long as toe touch remains in contact.
Once air born may the flap act like a spring and help lift or assist the pitcher in upward, forward progress?
Do you think spring loaded retractable and team colors will help in sales.
Is there a limit to how long the flap can be?

PS I mean no disrespect for the pitcher Miss Katie, this is something a coach initiates, and implements, it is also the NCAA and umpires who allowed it.
I believe they have made a mistake.

Would love to see video of how this works in action.
