No, but they both offer no athletic money, therefore, in principle are similar regarding player recruitment. Many DI schools are not fully funded.

I wouldn't assume the Ivy League is low end D1. League champ Harvard put up a good fight in the NCAA tournament last year, knocked out Texas Tech and Maryland before falling to Washington. Then again you aren't likely to find an Ivy in the top 25, and some consider anything below that "low end."

Harvard is miles ahead of the rest of the Ivy League. The top Div III program could not beat any of the top 100 Div I schools (if there was such a list). I am not being disrespectful to DIII, but stop trying to compare both.

Well there's RPI which ranks 289 D-1 softball programs. And I'll compare whatever the eff I want to compare, thank you very much. You don't like it then don't read it. The fact you dont know about RPI shows the value of your input.

Not really comparing- to back up your point ATWT- Harvard was ranked 95 last year in RPI(top 100) Cornell was ranked 200 out of 289. So Ithaca(usually in the top 20 of DIII -beat(this time) #200 in Div I

The coach from Tufts felt that her squad could beat all but the top 50 teams on any given day(one game), but that she did not have the depth to compete over a series. I kind of agree with you that anything in the top 100 would be tough(but that still leaves 189 others) ;)

I just think it is kind of cool when a Div III plays a DI(and wins)

Trophy Hunter wrote:They play every year. Cornell usually wins, but Ithaca won last year on a grand slam, then 2nd game was cancelled. Probably don't see it a lot but in this case it looks like a traditional crosstown rivalry type of thing, and Ithaca isn't that big by any stretch.

JR, one of my kids plays for Cornell, #25, she caught for me for about 5 years and she was the high school catcher , I believe for all 4 years. She is a great kid - dad's a coach/teacher, mom is a cpa, the family is full of overachievers. She does not do well at show case's but to me and and her parents, we thought this was just awesome for her. I was her science fair judge when she was in 2nd grade, it was me and a civil engineer - you ever see two so called professionals - talked down to by a 2nd grader. She is my DD1's best friend - and like a said a great kid. Will you see this game?
