DIV III predictions

Everything you want to know about the greatest game

by Midwest » Tue Jan 31, 2012 10:41 am

Millikin University from CCIW ( College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin ) should be very good. They have their entire starting line up back. The team won their confrence but lost in the conference championship. Head coach had to miss the tournament because she became sick. They were disapointed they didn't get an at large bid to the NCAA tournament seeing they did beat 3-4 teams that did go to the tournament from other conferences.

Linfield Continues Run at No. 1 in NFCA Division III Top 25

STARKVILLE, Miss. - With the start of another season of Division III softball comes the continuation of Linfield's streak as the No. 1 team in the NFCA Division III Top 25 Poll, the association has announced. After going wire-to-wire a season ago and now starting this year 6-0, the Wildcats received all eight first place votes to remain at the top in the first regular season poll of 2012.

Texas-Tyler remains in the No. 2 spot after also starting 6-0, while Luther jumps two to No. 3 despite not having played yet. The No. 4 spot continues to be held by yet untested Eastern Connecticut State, while 11-1 Emory jumps two to round out the top five.

ft, the way the D3 schools are selling themselves to our athletes is "Play the sport you love while still having a real college experience. Here, education comes first." As i get chances to talk to the kids i know, i will try and find out what - in their experience - is true.

From DD's experience the quote is correct as is. She's getting a phenominal education, she can get the classes she wants when she wants them, no TA's allowed on campus, the athletic competition is serious (but not at the premier D1 level, obviously), she WILL graduate in 4 years and she is having a heck of lot of fun with wonderful classmates and teammates in two sports. Sports is considered the required mental shift intended to be a healthy and purposeful diversion/break from lectures, study groups, labs and late night proof sets. All study makes Jane a dull girl. I asked DD bluntly if she regretted not going with the D1's who courted her and she said "not for a single moment". She's playing her last 4 years of ball (except maybe an adult rec league in the future) and will not be a professional softball player. She knows it and intends to enjoy the game for what it is, a game she loves to play competitively.

Mission accomplished! I hope when and if the time comes, my DD will have had the experience and sense of fulfillment that your DD has. Congrats and thanks for sharing!
