With 84 teams...... a few quesitons

Questions and discussions involving PGF

by onlooker » Thu May 14, 2015 11:14 am

1. Is there any inclination that there will be a full day of Friday games with 84 teams? or is it all good for sat-sun only?

I am guessing there will be 2 brackets of 42 to get 2 winners bracket births and 2 losers bracket births, guessing bye's will come into play.

2. Anyone have an idea of how many games a team has to win in the winners bracket to qualify?
My quick math says 5 (or 6 if no bye). (42/36/18/8/4/2/1)

3. Lets assume 2 top teams get drawn for first game (it always happens)...Anyone have an idea of how many games a team has to win in a row to then qualify form losers bracket with a first game loss?

1. Which event and division are you asking about? If Stockton 16U qualifier, it will have a full day of games on Friday.

2. 5-6 wins in winners bracket is correct (42/32/16/8/4/2).

3. 8-9 wins in losers bracket.

The brackets will have the same number of rounds as last year's SoCal 18U qualifier with 68 teams - just more games in the initial rounds (see https://www.dropbox.com/s/atjdbccnu6oq25o/2014PGF18UJUNEQUAL.pdf).
