PGF - ORDER OF FINISH - 2014

Questions and discussions involving PGF

I got the impression there were more affordable places in previous years. Can anyone confirm or deny?
Unless PGF starts rotating the site outside SoCal, they should lower the fine and quit giving an exemption to the local teams.

Location...Lets see...mid 70s-80's...great breeze

On behalf of SoCal, we'd like to apologize for the unusually muggy weather this year - even though most of you didn't notice it. I blame it on ASA/USA 14U Nats being down south in San Diego. Only ASA can make it rain in Midland and SoCal during a severe drought.

Face it there are those out there that will never accept PGF as a true nationals.

It's a national. It's just not THE National. :o

Muggy?...pfffft You dont know muggy...trust me...
I dont think ASA Nats vs PGF Nats is necessarily a fair competition...Many other orgs have Nats...USSSA, USFA, Little League...more than I care to try to name...Some are 'creations' of orgs who cant / wont compete with the Big 2...Some are for kids who cant / are unable to compete for numerous reasons...Some are creations simply for $$$$$$
With my kid...we've been to USSSA...ASA...USFA...and PGF
As far as, location, facilities, coaches present...PGF wins...by leaps and bounds

The fact the PGF IS in the same location (s) is actually a tremendous PLUS...continuous 'tweaking' of the setup isn't necessary...Fields are great...Haven't played on a terrible field yet at PGF...The practice of always having the tourney in a different requires scrounging up fields...Usually to include REC fields..or crappy city fields...
And for those who don't know, I don't live in SoCal...
I'm not rich but my kid and I did things to 'make it happen'...and by doing so, I've met some of the best people in the USA...and I am very grateful for them...and we've made friends for life...
Was funny how my kid and BAM's started girl chat like they've been friends for years and years...changed stereotypes for both...

And when I see a mobile police tower setup to protect a parking lot at a National venue...and even worse nobody ever in it...It doesn't make me feel safe for my wife and kids...Never felt that way in SoCal at PGF...
Not gonna name teams...but I do know ASA was handing out freebie berths like Mardi Gras beads at a New Orleans parade...basically send check, you play...Which waters down the competition immensely...Do those teams deserve to play? I guess, but what does that say about 'talent pool' draw to coaches who have precious little time to use...

You forgot to mention the opening ceremonies and final games on TV. Continuous feedback from kids I know is that they love the opening ceremonies at PGF. I just watched 14's, 16's, and 18's. Some great ball played in those games.

Last I heard ASA is still arguing that getting the final games on TV is impossible?

I know it's regularly much worse in most parts of the country. I was just setting up my dig at ASA...

I guess we can add Salem VA to the list of professional ASA host cities. I couldn't believe they were holding ASA/USA 16A Nats this year on 12 fields spread across 4 sites - 1 was a HS field.

ASA really gave Salem a raw deal. A year after taking their bid for probably the best gig with an expectation of 160 teams, ASA created 16G which took away a lot of the best teams playing ASA. Salem had around 120 teams coming mid-July, so they hit the phones to get around 15 more teams to fill in.

Humidity...I know that :D
Salem...never been there...dont plan on going
The 16G was handing out berths also...
in LA...a team that didnt win a game at a qualifier got a berth...

This way, teams such as "Lucky Charms" and "Chicks w/ Attitude" can also go to a "National" too.

Why ASA of course. Battle is a card carrying homer of the ASA nation. Kind of like a Raider fan. Lots of bravado with nothing to back it up.

I did back it up once and it turned into a mess. As I remember, Arto had to come save the PGFers from little ole me. I did find a good friend in fastpitchdad05 though. Oh those were the days.

The PGFers want so bad for ASA to fall on it's face. It's just not happening. This is a Cali based site so sure most here are going to follow PGF. Fact is, if you want a vacation then play PGF. If you want to be a part of tradition and be a part of the greatest sanction in fastpitch then play ASA. I must warn you though. ASA is not for sissies.

Edit...Besides Spazs, you know I'm a Dallas Cowboys fan anyway.
