I do not believe you have not exceeded your "not" quota for a sentence. ;)

So what does local exactly mean? How many miles away can you be from Huntington Beach to be considered local? This hotel thing is BS, and to say we are going to fine you a $500 penalty if you don't stay in one of our money making places? Hogwash

You don't have to show proof of residence?

It is a huge advantage to have the tournament in a location where fewer teams have to travel. SoCal makes sense in that regard.

It is a huge advantage to have the tournament in a location with loads of flights and loads of hotels. This avoids the captive audience that ASA used to take advantage of teams.

It makes sense that teams either stay in partner hotels, or pay an additional amount. The comp'ed rooms from those hotels are necessary for out of town umpires and out of town tournament personnel. The extra money helps offset cost of tournament.

Not sure that it makes sense for locals to pay zero additional money. It should not be they whole 1500, but 300 seems to make sense. They will save way more than that by having the tournament in SoCal.

You obviously haven't read the thread that covered this topic just before your OP. Please read PFG Trip so we don't have to rehash everything...

Even with a discount the hotel is overpriced.
