So who have berths to PGF 2014??

Questions and discussions involving PGF

by sbfan22 » Sat Aug 10, 2013 4:32 pm

We don't know about invites at this point, correct?

So the teams that have a berth already are:

The top 7 finishers at Premier:

So Cal Athletics
Stith-Mizuno
Socerer-Phil
EC Bullets
Texas Glory
Haning-BB Mizuno
Beverly Bandits
and
Platinum Winner
Strikeforce

any other teams at this point??

Do you want to know for tryouts? I don't expect to see anything official for a few months.

Returning berths go to the head coaches for the top 12 teams in 18U Premier and top 6 for 16U and 14U. I haven't seen anything for 18U Platinum and 12U.

1. So Cal Athletics - Richardson
2. Team Mizuno - Stith
3. OC Batbusters - Haning
3. Texas Glory - Shelton
5. Beverly Bandits - Conroy
5. EC Bullets - Schnute
7. Firecrackers - Rico
7. Sorcerers - ?
9. Jersey Intensity - O'Donnell
9. Gold Coast Hurricanes - Cooper
9. Lady Lightning Gold - Corn
9. KC Peppers - Eakin

Are you saying the Platinum winner gets a returning berth to 18U Premier? :? Where did you see or hear that?

Assuming that the top 6 are returning, these are the coaches/teams that earned return bids to PGF next year. If I read correctly, the other stipulations are that the teams may not age up and the bid can't be passed to someone else in the organization. If the coaches move with their teams, I suspect that all the 12U teams age up and all but 2 of the 14U teams age up (Quarles and Garcia). 16U is harder since many of those coaches stay in 16s, so even though many players age up, I suspect most of the coaches will maintain their age group bid and just reload.

12U

1.So Cal Athletics – Tidd/Ornales
2.AZ Suncats - Judge
3.So Cal Breakers - Steele
3.Corona Angels - Tyson
5.Salinas Storm - Jimenez
5.Courage – Weaver

14U

1. Team Mizuno - Campbell
2. OC Batbusters - McNee
3. Sorcerers - Schroll
3. So Cal Athletics - Quarles
5. Austin Stars - Garcia
5. Team Mizuno – Briggs

16U

1. Beverly Bandits - Conroy
2. OC Batbusters - Myers
3. Minnesota Sting - Hall
3. Firecrackers - Blanco
5. Georgia Impact - Medlam
5. Georgia Impact - Bass

I assumed the same thing, maybe from ASA regional championship days.

I think they should give Strike Force a berth, it gives the Platinum winner a real reward and will increase interest to bolster the stature of the tournament. Similar to how Boulder/Louisville(?) rewards top teams the next year by moving them into the main tournament. Good teams that may not have travelled for the minor tournament would something concrete to shoot for. Hell, give the top two finishers a berth.
Don't worry about tomorrow. You did that yesterday.

Yes, just curious for tryouts since having a berth should save some money travel wise. Plus, no Las Vegas. LOL

It will be interesting to see whether it is categorized as a returning berth or an invite. I'm guessing invite.

We were told the 18u Platinum division gets 7 berths just like the others do but only the winner gets the Premier berth.

(so 6 plus the premier berth)
