Teams who turn down a bid should be banned for one year

Questions and discussions involving PGF

Too many teams in the Houston qualifier played but turned down a bid. Either charge them double in a future qualifier or ban them for one year from competing in a premier qualifier. Those teams denied others who wanted to compete for the premier bid.

Ban the winners so the losers can look like winners? :?

Is your real name Barack Obama?
Ladies, if a man tells you he will fix it, he will fix it. There is no reason to remind him about it every six months.

No one was denied anything. The teams that qualified, then turned down the berth, did not stop teams from entering the qualifier.

Makes no sense- who was denied?

It was the first qualifier of the year. Teams wanted to make sure they had a national tournament to go to, is my guess. When those teams qualified for ASA, they decided to go there instead of PGF.

Secondly, they passed the berths down to the next three teams (5th, 6th and 7th). Are we really complaining that the 8th place team in a 32 team field didn't get a fair opportunity to win a berth?

Same thing happens in ASA , teams go to qualifiers and state tournaments , win, and turn the birth down to go to PGF. It happens. Fair? Not really, If PGF or ASA can come up with something let us know. I'm sure they are both glad teams are playing in hopes one time they will try their Nationals.

Last year CA Lockman played States with no intention of going to ASA. USA Athletics Eveland did the same this year. The ones who can complain are the ones who were knocked out by those teams. Take them out of the mix and it changes the dynamics of the tournament.

Require a check for Nationals at the beginning of the Qualifiers to be returned if they don't qualify and cashed if they do, with no refunds after qualifying and the problem is solved. I can see ASA doing this, but not PGF, as they have a hard enough time getting teams to play qualifiers as it is.

BO could be right in this case...

How about scheduling their qualifiers to be on the same weekend? :o
