PGF 16U breakdown by State

Questions and discussions involving PGF

by fastpitchdad05 » Fri Jul 20, 2012 10:26 pm

I was bored so I compiled a list of the teams in PGF 16U by state. For CA I broke it into SCa, NCa, and CCa (Southern, Northern and Central).

CA makes up 34 of the 64 overall teams.

SCa - 23
NCa - 7
CCa - 4
AZ - 5
TX - 4
IL - 2
OR - 2
OH - 2
VA - 2
WA - 2
AL - 1
CO - 1
GA - 1
IN - 1
NV - 1
KY - 1
WI - 1
TN - 1
FL - 1
OK - 1
KS - 1

19 Total states are represented.

I'd like to hear from people about the states other than CA as to how the teams rank within their state.

Foe example...Are the EC Bullets-Johnson recognized as one of (if not the best) 16U teams in GA?

Just FYI - The EC Bullets Johnson are a very good team. To be fair, I'm biased, I coach a Bullets team and consider their coach a friend. However, they do are a young team, many '15's. They did finish 5th at the Fireworks. FWIW.

Is there a breakdown of how teams got in the tournament?

Returning berth
Invite
Earned Berth at Qualifier
Late invite / At-large

Be interesting to see how each category fares in 18s and 16s.
Ladies, if a man tells you he will fix it, he will fix it. There is no reason to remind him about it every six months.

Tennessee Fury -

Invite (Runner - Up 2011 ASA Nationals)

Best in Tennessee (On this day at least)

As for best in Georgia would have to go to Atlanta Vipers Prance ( ASA Nationals Bound)

As well is our Fury 95 team.

Our team is 9 - 2014 & 5- 2015

As well is the team that came back from the losers bracket to beat you last year at 2011 ASA/USA 14U Nats - Lasers Gold.

Tennessee Fury - Invite (Runner - Up 2011 ASA Nationals)

Best in Tennessee (On this day at least)

What would your '95 team say about that?

OK, here's your chance to post about playing Lasers Gold again in Colorado this year...

Thanks for the response. Anyone else have any opinions on the other teams?

Be interesting to see how each category fares in 18s and 16s.

18s
12 Returning Berth (18%)
31 Berths from qualifiers (46%)
25 Invites (if final total is 64 teams) (36%)

16s
6 Returning Berth (9%)
32 Berths from Qualifiers (50%)
26 Invites (if final total is 64 teams) (41%)

from PGF website by adding up each berth from each qualifier. Updated for 68 teams in 18s

There are 68 teams in 18s. In 16s, I'm not sure whether Firecrackers Araujo should be considered a returning berth or an invite.

Every team needs to be categorized to determine what TH really wants when it's over.

While I did raise the thought, I'm sure others will be interested to see how it plays out.

I wondered about the Araujo berth as well, and it must be an invite. Either that or they let Firecrackers assign a returning berth to another coach, which isn't likely since it's against the rules.
