I take it this means FC-Kay beat OCBB-Ybarra to secure a top 2 finish.

Any more updates?

Thank you all for the props!

The team played well in VERY hot weather this weekend...Played some great teams this weekend who will be knocking the doors down at Premier in August for sure...SD Aztecs, CA Raiders, OC Elite, and OC BB Ybarra as well as a couple others who we didn't get to play like Team Arizona and Breakers Imoto...There was some really great softball played out there this weekend!

Our game Saturday against CA Raiders was very exciting with an outstanding pitching duel!

Congratulations to OC Elite as well for taking the 2nd berth! That team can hit!

Thanks to Premier for putting on a great tournament...All of the fields we played on were drug and chalked each game, etc...I thought it was really well ran!

Firecrackers headed home after they nailed down qualifying spot so no championship game was played to determine 1st and 2nd places.

This was a qualifier. Once you got your berth, that was as far as it was supposed to go - no championship game was ever part of this. FC Kay did a great job to go undefeated. If you are to put "places" that they finished, that would make them number one. OC Elite had one loss that had put them in the losers bracket - they then fought their way through that and beat Ybarra to secure the 2nd berth. But they did have one loss so they would be considered "2nd place"...

Great job by both teams. I'm sure there may have been a lot of bets lost in trying to guess who would come out with the berths. See you at PGF!

Yes, apparently the concept of getting the berth vs continue playing like it's a tournament was lost on some...PGF plays until a berth is given, ASA has a tournament with top 10 or whatever teams get berth but continue playing to get a champion of that tournament. Yet another way the two organizations are verrrry different...

Many ASA qualiifiers do not play to a winner. Especially with teams traveling in.

ASA gold qualifiers used to have 100+ teams and only three days to run the tournament. Often these ended with berths decided around 6pm on Sunday, and everyone was anxious to get their kids back home so they could prepare for end of year tests.

Interesting discussion, but the facts are that the bracket showed not only a championship game, but yet another game if the one loss team beat the undefeated team. If PGF "only plays until a berth is given" then PGF wouldn't include two games that aren't meant to be played on their bracket.
