Why do the folks up in the Bay Area get so agitated when someone refers to San Francisco as "Frisco"?

They don't mind people ordering the "Frisco Burger"

Politics and gayness aside, I LOVE SAN FRANCISCO!!! Grew up in the Bay Area (Hillsborough) as a child thru early teens. I visit frequently. Come on guys, BE NICE!!!!
