AASA Future Stars Announce First Wave of New Coaches

Concurrent with new highly competitive A teams and the developmental teams being formed in Sacramento, Brentwood/Antioch, and San Joaquin/Stanislaus areas, AASA future Stars has been busy recruiting new coaches. “These young ladies represent an exceptional group of new coaches that will add to our incredible team that features some of the most talented coaches in softball.” said Debbie Nelson, nationally recognized softball experts and owner of Northern California’s premier softball academy. “We are so excited that they have joined our team! What is even more exciting is that every single one of our existing coaches is staying with us for the fall. They have found a great home with our fantastic team of professionals.” Nelson added.

“When I think about that fact that we will have two former Division 1 Coaches and an Olympic Gold Medalist and Olympic Hall of Fame inductee leading our team of exceptional coaches I get goosebumps.” said administrative director Peter Holtz. “These amazing women share a passion for exceptional softball and motivating young ladies to excel on the field, in the classroom, and in life. Honestly, our entire coaching team are the type of mentors and leaders I wanted when my daughter was playing.”

The first of these new coaches are:

Emily Allard - Northwestern University Softball player and Professional Fast-pitch player. Twelfth player selected in the 2014 National Professional Fast-pitch draft. Academic All Big 10 and lead team with .395 batting average and 37 stolen basis.

Kara Ferguson - former Holy Names University player with a .360 batting average, Hughson High JV Coach, Nike Camp Instructor, scholar athlete, and assistant coach on several AASA FS teams this summer will be assuming the role of head coach this fall.

Stacey Zussman - Liberty High School Varsity Coach, Grand Valley State player at third base and designated hitter, ten year coach at Nike Sports camps, and AASA Hitting instructor.

Lauren Rodriguez - former D1 college player at University of Missouri Kansas City, distinguished scholar, and All league honors.

Lizzy Vaughn - College of Charleston D1 softball Player, lead team with .369 batting average, scholar athlete, defensive player of the year, and all league honors.

Other Coaches to be featured in the AASA Future Stars program are:

Jenny Topping - Olympic Gold Medalist, Olympic Hall of Fame, four time NCAA All American and one of the best to ever play the game. Current instructor at Jenny Topping softball.

Brandi Macias - Outstanding Division 1 Coach and standout college player who lead her team to the Women's College World Series more than once at Big Ten Powerhouse Iowa. Expert hitting instructor.

Brandi Harrison - Defensive Coaching wizard and Humboldt State Hall of Fame inductee. Current coach of a highly recruited 16U All American Sports Academy Team.

Juliana Santos - Former Captain of the Division 1 LSU Tigers as they powered their way into the Women’s College World Series. Expert defensive trainer and current assistant Coach at Stanislaus State.

Jenni Holtz - Record setting Division 1 pitcher and pitching coach at the All American Sports Academy.

Joey Daniels - Former Team Captain and MVP of Division 1 Big Ten Wisconsin Badgers and instructor at the new All American Sports Academy location in Antioch.

Alannah Johns - former college player from William Jessup University in the California Pacific Conference and High School Varsity Coach at Gregori High School in Modesto. 2014 Modesto Metro Coach of the Year.

Breihanna Castilleja - former college player form the William Jessup University in the California Pacific Conference. A scholar athlete who earned all conference honors.

Kim Hood - former Division 1 player from the Big South Conference, former coach of Livermore High School Softball.

John Melo - Current 10u head coach and standout softball coach of young players.
