NorCal

Socal takeover?

by Goldball4 » Tue Nov 24, 2015 12:37 am

Two of the top teams in Norcal have just announced, they are becoming Oc batbuster teams! Gomes who went from grapettes, to west coast intensity, is now batbusters. Kg hitters also announced they will be batbusters also. Lost a ton of respect for these two guys, who soldout their roots, to lay in bed with pgf. Still the same coaches though, so lets see if they make this work.

....."sold out their roots, to lay in bed with pgf". How dramatic.

There is a recurring, current pgf thread on this board about teams who's parents/coaches feelings are hurt because their teams end up in Whittier for pgf showcase tournaments. Go to that thread, and read Always Improve's synopsis. There are effectively three tier's of teams now, and pgf tends to place the tier 1 teams on the best fields. Tier 2 teams that are making noise and winning also get good fields. Those are the facts of life.
NorCal teams are mostly tier 3. In years past there have been a few tier 1 NorCal teams, but they are gone.

I suspect that these two coaches that you are complaining about have figured this out. They want their players to get recruited by top colleges, and to do that, their kids need to be playing on top fields. Being an OC Batbuster team will help. Yes, you can say that they are just OC Batbuster's in name only, but that will still be WAY better than being west coast intensity or kg hitters......If you think this won't help these guys get good field locations, you are confused. I also suspect that parents are figuring this out, and they will be trying to get their kid on one of these teams.

Hopefully Gary won't be stockpiling Batbuster teams like the FC have done over the last year; time will tell.

It is true that each player of NorCal team who will be part of batbusters will have to pay $200 (that goes to SoCal headquarter) for upcoming Spring/summer season? If yes, it smells like a business opportunity!!

Not real sure about the three tiers , at least in norcal, to me if we are just talking about teams that trek to LA annually, it's two tiers.. Tier 1 of which they are still around at least at gold level (Sorcerers, AASA) for example still field teams that can hang with the best week end week out , and then imo it's all the rest fighting to be somewhat recognized and either playing in Lancaster or Palmdale or once in a blue moon get thrown a bone and play at HB on field 8 against tier 2 teams from socal. Now i do know Gomes was with grapes he was getting fields 1-4 at HB routinely for long long time, not sure how the NC Intensity thing panned out but heard he had issues with org. Kiko was always in the Sorcerer shadow , and maybe at some point will get over the hump with this change , time will tell. LTG and other new programs are making waves and sending kids to top college programs, it's just norcal is flooded with new orgs and teams and unlike socal we really don't have enough quality to support the masses, let alone be classified with 3 tiers...

What this turning into , is a monopoly. You have these guys making more, more money by selling their name. Gomes, and Kiko had no problem getting kids to colleges. Also both are always on the great fields already. Everything pgf good ole boys said asa was about, theyre turning into . But worse, when you have the leader of that group dan hay, saying only 10 teams matter to us in this country, and the rest of us are all revenue products, theres a problem! Its all about money. People say these showcases are killing the sport? No its these money hungry pgf surfcity guys. Theyre ruining the sport right now! Its the greatest national out there! Not anymore, ghey lost 25 top teams lsdt year, back to asa. They are going to be losing 6 more very soon.

good luck to the new teams forming in norcal! You soldout, so be proud, and make sure you tell all those people how much money youre sending to already rich socal cult!

NC BB same level of teams as NCFC? No one up is affraid these play these names anymore - don't mean much. Just another "Nor Cal" organization -

So, what is NCFC sending south to wear the black and red? Seems like a big investment for coaches/teams that cannot get out of local Silver Brackets.

Wow that is huge news.. I think these big o rgs. Look at norcal as untapped market alot of talent with no notoriety. IE suncats , batbusters, whos next? I know I have talked to a few parents of norcal batbusters 14,s they have a huge name , college liason, and when they go to surf city they get a day at batbusters facility. .not too shabby. Face the facts Norcal is comin' up and the big names want a piece.

Oh look who showed up! Good ole boy himself, and heybucket commander! Look it is what it is, teams that supported pgf from the beginning left lsdt year, becsuse tgeyre tired of their money hungry ways. Spent 109 at hotel for jo cup, then our 16s come in the next eeek for pgf, 170 a night! BSSS! So lets see, east cobb bullets, gold coast hurricanes, indiana magic, michigan finesse, texas bombers, texss storm, texss aces, new lenox lighting, newtoen rock, san jose sting, american pastime, lady sluggrrs, wagners, wichita mustangs, st loius chaos, texss firecrackers. All were stalwarts at pgf from the beginning, and most got invites every year. But yeah tgey filled these spots with better teams im sure. Yeah right!
