The American flag is next, it is a matter of time. UC Irvine already tested the flag ban earlier this year. http://www.forbes.com/sites/daviddavenport/2015/07/30/proud-to-be-an-american-do-not-say-so-at-the-university-of-new-hampshire/

FUD. How'd that attempted Irvine flag ban turn out? The so-called "indoctrinated" Associated Students of UC Irvine reversed the decision of a handful of ingrates.

Just a first attempt. They will keep trying. You go to all the UC's and it's foreignerville. Whites are the minority, white straight males are endangered.

As with all things- how "good" something is is based on degree. I think we all can agree that a certain amount of PC is OK. The racial and ethnic slurs are probably not need. Changing "retarded" to "special needs" is probably not a bad thing either. The list presented in this article is downright silly and would be downright laughable if the people who put together were not serious. It is one thing to encourage polite and friendly speech, it is a whole other thing to try to control speech. These people probably are well intended, but do not realize the very slippery slope they travel, I'm disapointed they posted it in the first place but happy theuy were smart enough to pull it down. This in a state who's motto is "LIve Free or Die"

I began my engineering career 30 years ago in SoCal. Non-American engineers were pretty rare. Now, I would say something like 25% of SoCal software engineers with a U.S. college degree are from Pakistan or India. I was so sick of struggling to understand what they were saying. Colleges in CA love them because they pay a significantly higher tuition. These are decent paying jobs that American engineers aren't getting after working to get their engineering degree. 30 years ago I had 3 job offers within 1 month of graduation. And I graduated from one of the lamest state colleges in SoCal (Cal State Dominguez Hills). There are too many new engineering grads who can't find decent work in their field.

All this talk about immigration and jobs and I have yet to hear anyone talk about this. Of any political persuasion.

Orwell predicted this with Newspeak in his novel, Nineteen Eighty-Four. Some examples chosen from Wikipedia...

- Crimestop: To rid oneself of unwanted thoughts—i.e., thoughts that interfere with Party ideology—in order to avoid committing thoughtcrime.

- Equal: Only used to describe physical equality such as height and weight. It does not refer to social, political or economical equality because there is no such concept as social inequality in purportedly egalitarian Ingsoc

- Facecrime: An indication that a person is guilty of thoughtcrime based on facial expression.

- Free: Meaning negative freedom (without), in a physical sense. Only used in statements such as "This dog is free from lice", as the concepts of "political freedom" and "intellectual freedom" do not exist in Newspeak.

- Goodthink: Orthodox thought.

- Ingsoc: English Socialism.

- Joycamp: Forced labor camp.

- Malquoted: Flawed representations of the Party or Big Brother by the press.

- Miniluv: "Ministry of Love" (secret police, interrogation, and torture).

- Minipax: "Ministry of Peace" (Ministry of War, cf.: "Department of Defense", "War Department").

- Minitrue: "Ministry of Truth" (propaganda and alteration of history, culture, and entertainment).

- Miniplenty: "Ministry of Plenty" (keeping the population in a state of constant economic hardship).

- Oldspeak: English; any language that is not Newspeak.

- Oldthink: Ideas inspired by events or memories of times prior to the Revolution.

- Prolefeed: The steady stream of mindless entertainment produced to distract and occupy the masses. The prole in prolefeed is reference to the Marxist concept of the proletariat.

- Recdep: "Records Department" (division of the Ministry of Truth that deals with the rectification of records; department in which Winston works).

- Rectify: Ministry of Truth euphemism for deliberately altering the past.

- Speakwrite: An instrument used by Party members to note or "write" down information by speaking into an apparatus as a faster alternative to an "ink pencil". Speakwrites are used extensively in the Ministry of Truth by both Winston Smith and others in their daily work.

- Telescreen: Television and security camera devices used by the ruling Party in Oceania to keep its subjects under constant surveillance.

- Thinkpol: Thought Police.

On top of that, there are the H-1B visas. They aren't supposed to displace US workers, however companies are bringing them in and laying off US workers (e.g. SCE, Disney).

From what I understand is that engineers are in great demand and there are more jobs than graduates right now

You may be right as I haven't researched it out. My statement may be completely wrong. But I don't think it is the case here in SoCal. I suspect there are still hundreds of applicants for any decent engineering job here that requires a BS degree. Research it out and post the results (particularly if I'm wrong).

Edit:
I just looked at that link. I've been out of the engineering world for a few years but at that time the IT guys (the first 2 jobs) usually didn't require a 4 year degree. Different certifications but not a BS degree. There must be IT people on here who can describe requirements for typical IT jobs. Hell, my last 8 years in engineering were spent at a company that developed/sold a SW product. Out of the 20 "Software Engineers" there were maybe 4 or 5 that had a 4 year degree. All computer related work does not require a degree. I think the assertions made in that link are based on faulty assumptions. That certainly doesn't mean there aren't other studies that indicate I'm full of crap.

And if anyone wants to show that I am indeed full of crap they can contact my wife and she will enthusiastically provide all the evidence you need.
