All I was trying to say that if EVERY American followed an officers instructions, there wouldn't be shootings. Around here, a few white guys were shot and killed. Why? They didn't follow directions. Instead of hands up or lying on the ground, they decided to reach into their pocket for their cell phone. WRONG move. Police are on edge in any community where a crime is being committed or where there's suspicion of a crime to be committed. I do agree, percentages are its usually in the an inner city black community. However, if EVERYONE would just obey a police officers instructions, no one would get sho.

Stop being PC. When saying "EVERYONE" you mean Blacks. Truth is your right cause generally speaking they don't obey the law as other minorities do. I would argue Hispanics live under the same conditions as Blacks. Plus they outnumber and you don't see the numbers of police killings.

You see Cops can not change their mandate. It's their J.O.B to protect those who can not. It's the job to keep order. It's their job to enforce and seek out potential issues. Not much they can do to change. Now Blacks and other minorities have the biggest effect in all of this. We (I'm Mexican) have the CHOICE to follow the law like it or not. Pretty simple...

Last, sad the Assasin in NYC is being depicted a a crazy lunatic and this isn't related to the recent events. They are trying to spin this so the don't look like fools. Wrong is wrong and the movement and all included are wrong!

Then please cite where Sharpton or Obama or Holder incited violence? I may have missed the part where one of these guys declared open season on cops, I think it would have made the news. Or are you saying that a black leader showing support for the victim of a family that has faced tragedy is the thing that is inciting violence? ...

My post addressed keeping the responsibility of the perpetrator and the leader(s) separate according to what each did. The discussion was general, so I didn't imply Sharpton, Obama or Holder were guilty of a crime.

However, I do think they failed to show responsible leadership at times. For Obama and Holder, their response to Ferguson seemed one-sided against the cop while the investigation was in process - eerily like a "rush to judgement" - instead of just reassuring people that they'd make sure the truth came out and was acted upon accordingly. That is appropriate leadership.

Sharpton is far more incendiary in getting people riled up. Dugout Dad posted the story of his protest marchers chanting to kill cops. I'm curious if he did anything to rile them up to that level and/or tried to quell those chants when they started.

FWIW, I'm troubled by a number of police shootings and race wasn't an issue in many. The police that opened fire on the women delivering newspapers during the Dorner manhunt is just one. There needs to be an impartial investigation and the prosecutor needs to focus on their role in our adversarial system (i.e. let the defense do their job). There is a wide range of outcomes including clearing the officer, disciplining them (including termination), pressing criminal charges and suing them and/or their employer.

when I type EVERYONE....I mean EVERY single American. Don't put words into my typing mouth.......I was emphasizing EVERYONE as opposed to JJ just inferring it to the black community. Please read my post thoroughly and don't tell me what I had meant to say. If I had meant to say only "blacks", I would've said that. Stupid white people get shot and killed by cops, too. It's just that it doesn't get the headlines because it doesn't get the "race-baiters" in front of the camera.

Interesting observation:

15 minutes after the Ferguson verdict was read, BHO was in front of the camera commenting on the decision.

So far, 4 days later, no on camera statement from BHO about the murdered officers. Only a written statement probably written by some staffer.

I seem to recall rank-and-file Congressional Democrats being miffed Obama didn't invite them to the White House or provide photo-ops with him - back when they wanted to be seen with him. Not an issue now...

On top of the WH visits, BHO has raised money for Sharpton and his "non-profit" orgs.

When the police become the judge, jury and executioner the rule of law is gone and becomes the rule of man. THAT is the issue people should be discussing.
The media makes it about race and suckers fall for it every time. The debate is framed to distract from the real problem of police brutality and militarization.

Black Widow, to the say the man who killed the NYPD Officers wasn't a hate crime is ridiculous. "Your" President is clearly a racist. Please tell me why he spent my tax payer dollars to send representatives to the funerals of black thugs who contributed nothing to society. Of the over 100 police officers killed last year and the over 100 killed in the line of duty this year, YOUR president never sent a representative. Al Sharpton has been to the White House over 80 times and counting. Now Big Al owes over 4 million in taxes, and YOUR president called him the voice of the black race. Wow, what an example YOUR president choose to represent his race. The only people who have turned a blind eye to this administration's racism are the people who, voted for him, receive free government subsidies and those who are to lazy to get a job. It seems certain groups have a hard time listening to police, which ultimately usually results in some sort of use of force. Call that police brutality or be responsible and call that ignorant. I've been stopped several times, as I'm a rather large guy who can't grow hair. Each time I've listened to exactly what I was instructed to do by the officers. The end result was a few speeding tickets. Follow instructions is what Al should be preaching.
