What the Republicans should do when they take congress

Off topic. Home for jokes and other misc. stuff.
Keep it reasonable.

Some things the Republicans should do when they take control of both houses after the next election to help the country and get the White House in 2016

1) Develop a bipartisan infrastructure bill- focus on gas/oil pipelines, electric grid, roads/bridges, rail bottlenecks, water supply to drought areas, realistic high speed rail) Focus should be on things that help stimulate private investment and growth- no BS (shovel ready) work with private -public projects

2) revamp the corporate tax code to be more globally competative and attractive

3) Set up a comprehensive immigration plan that focuses on both sealing the borders, enforcement, but works on way of streamlining the current process to attract the best and brightest to come here. Also to work a way to make the process profitable

4) Avoid witch hunts- endless hearings on Bengazi and the IRS(as distasteful and horrendous as they are) are unproductive and devisive The Republicans must stop the cycle of retribution between the two parties that has gone on too long

5) No pissing contests with the President- sending bills that we know will be vetoed and have no chance of being overturned

6) Go with a push to end Obomacare, but settle for a revamping

Just my opinion, do not want the Republicans to squander their chance

First thing... The word bipartisan means give Dems what they want! In my view the best thing to do is stonewall until election. Do all possible to create positive PR for RNC to win presidency and keep both sides of the house.

Then shove all possible conservative views down the pipe to help reverse the crap Obama has begun. That's the true issue. Need to think much longer. RNC needs a 30 year plan for infiltrating colleges, text book companies and local government. The left is a machine right now and it's a snowball effect. We need to "fundementaly change hearts and minds". Sound familiar? They did it and so can the right...

These next two years is simply a chance to lay a foundation for the future. Any major changes without a president will never happen. Obama will never allow it. He's proven that!

Oh and I'll take a country headed in the right direction over nice smooth roads any day. Shovel ready... I hate that term simply means wasted tax dollars. That's like saying schools need more $$.

I do see the immigration issue but honestly two more years won't matter. Need to win the Hispanic vote first and only way to win is to appease them on immigration. Trust me I'm an American of Mexican blood. So I can absolutely speak on this issue.

And YES we do want a pissing match with the Prez. Cause he never takes a stance on anything and will stonewall. Great news material and shows RNC is working when we are actually prepping for next president. Ready to go bills on his desk already debated on the Hill and public opinion positive if done right.

Agree with most of your points except 4 and 5, people should go to jail over this crap. Do you think O will compromise with a Republican Senate and House? What do you think should happen if he vetoes or goes the executive action route?

Stonewalling will cost them 2016-period. You can push any agenda unless you win elections. A super conservative agenda will alienate 2/3 of the electorate and will make the republicans irrelevant. Oboma is a lame duck. Republicans need to focus on fixing the country and avoid the partisan crap. There is lots of common ground- let's make the democrats look like they are in the way

O's should be thinking of his legacy, hopefully that will motivate him. It will be hard for him to veto a bipartisan bill. Vetoes will be tough to overturn because the republicans will not have enough votes

The problem with the hearings is that they will not result in any arrests-again the republicans will only have a slight majority. As much as I agree with the intent, but my fear it will make the republicans look vindictive and will backfire on them

Hey Jonriv how about taking care of our Veterans who have sacrificed everything, how about lowering unemployment by really creating jobs instead of using Enron accounting to falsify statistics, how about taking care of our homeless population & attempting to make them contributing members of society? We need to take care of our own by changing the way we attempt to take care of the rest of the world. I say cut foreign aid to those who abuse those funds & distribute them to causes that help Americans in need. Just my 2 pennies :D

I certainly agree with taking care of our veterans- there really needs to be a complete overhaul of the VA system(which has been broken for 40 years) I think foreign aid should be focused on our interests- a complete pullback is actually counter-productive- plus 90% of foreign aid actually is spent in the US via contracts with US corporations. I think the overall focus needs to be on improving the economy- it helps the jobs, the homeless and even the debt(better economy = greater tax revenue-something O does not seem to understand) I think the republican should try to avoid the minefield of social issues(at least at first) and focus on the economic. I am not saying that social issues are not important, but you can't do anything if the economy is not better.

I think the congress will have to push through a fiscal policy and agenda(which it has not done for almost a decade)- The Federal Reserve has done all it can via the monetary route, but congress has ignored their calls to handle the fiscal side

I think there needs to be some streamlining of regulations- they need to be consistent and less arbritrary- they need to stop being moving targets.

Dodd- Frank needs to be overhauled- although well intented, in practice it is punitive and in practice is making banks act in a risk avoidance(as opposed to risk management) manner which is effecting the entire credit system(and housing)
