Classic! However, in real life, Carlin was a big believer in having a good work ethic in order to achieve your aspirations.

I'm not surprised by the results of the research and how they presented them. I think it came up short in capturing and categorizing organized interest groups. I would have liked to seen it done by typical political block (e.g. business, environmentalist, labor).

I also question whether they weighted each policy issue by its impact. If it was extended to cover recent changes, I wouldn't give Obamacare the same weight as a minor issue. I'd also break the policy issues into categories (business/labor, environmental, non-economic).

Re-reading this I see how Jonriv posts about the right to bear arms using a "landmark case". which is a bunch of crap because it's strictly about the ban of owning a gun in Washington DC (prior to 1975) & not used nationwide. When I moved to DC & called the PD they 1st said it was illegal to own a firearm in DC & then quickly asked my name. I hung up. You get an automatic 10 days in jail for possession of a firearm in the District no questions asked.

H
owever, in real life, Carlin was a big believer in having a good work ethic in order to achieve your aspirations.

PDAD. Did you know George Carlin? His daughter Kelly Carlin is an acquaintance of mine. Her husband Bob and mine work together.
She has a stand up show of her own called "Carlin Home Companion."
She gives a lot of true insight about George Carlin in her act.

Just wondering if that is why you have him as an avatar.

No, I've only been a casual fan of Carlin. I picked that image because I didn't like the one for "Occupation: Foole". I like Carlin's humor because it is thought provoking. He challenges conventional wisdom and the status quo. Even when I don't agree with what he says, I admire the quality of his material and the way he performed it.

Here is a video with a couple of interview excerpts that provide insight into the real man - George Carlin On Drugs And Marijuana. I don't agree with his view that a good work ethic is primarily genetic, but he clearly views it as being important. He also provides some great insights on drugs. I'm going to post this video on the other thread too.

Was Kelly close to her father? If so, it would be interesting to hear what she has to say about him.

And that works so well...
Detroitistan and Chicagostan have the strictest gun laws in the USA...and you are more likely by % to be killed there than in Kabul...
