18 Gold ASA Qualifier at Dyess & Collins Park

by 93players » Mon Jun 11, 2012 1:53 pm

HoustonFastpitch makes some great observations.

Umpiring was very consistent. Parents and coaches need to stop complaining when the same rules are applied to both side. Every ump can make a mistake.

We had 3 officials on every field.

The draw in Dallas will be very interesting. 6 bids.

To clarify that is Aces Express Gold - McCorkle. There are two Aces Express teams & they deserve the recognition for beating some good teams like the Bombers, Blaze & Sudden Impact. Lots of talent in that team.

If you go to the Dallas tourney site and press teams and go to the list, you can press the i next to the team name. It is a statistical analysis of the team's performance in asa games based upon MVP Power Rankings 100. The old adage that STATs can lie is proved by these stats.

I take the Aces Express Jacoby team that went 5-2 and played into Sunday (17th I think). This MVP Stats nonsense says:

Their current trending average is .429
The tournament opponents trending average is .943
The prediction model shows them at .166.
They can potentially average 1.8 runs/game and give up 4.0 runs/game.
They could go 2 - 8 in their next 10 games.

I would bet on this team not the STATs. There are many other funny example. Both Aces Express teams have great pitching.

That is weird, I don't remember paying a gate fee last year when they hosted the Regional Gold qualifier. But I have slept since then and I may be misremembering.

Last year they did charge a gate fee......at Keist. . . tournament is $25 less than last weeks qualifier but with a $10 gate fee they will make double the money and their concession stand prices are high. But on a good note, they do have a great concession stand.
