Great 15 team lineup at Sportzone this weekend. Teams from IN, KY, OH and IL. Should be a great weekend of softball. Apparently there is a football game on Sunday as well.

ok someone tell this nwi softball guy what teams to watch for in the indy crush classic in late april. crush02,cg xplosion-rudd,zephyrs,edge01,edge02,mafia01,dreams01,dreams02? looks like bulldogs and phoenix are the only teams coming down from the north along with two michigan teams.

Edge '01 is a pretty solid team. And the Indy Crush '02 team has a lot of promise. The Mafia '01 team looked good late last summer...but don't know what kind of shape they are in this year. I don't know anything about the other teams (surprising, right?). Although I liked the '01 dogs last year too. Too bad '01 Sox isn't coming down. They looked good last year too.

From the sweetheart jam at Lafayette this past weekend. The Indiana Magic continue to look very strong. Good pitching and strong bats. The Indiana Zephyrs 02 also look good this weekend. Beating the Gators '01 team and the eventual champions, Illinois Stars.

I would put he 02 Crush and 01 Mafia at the top of that pack. The 01 Mafia was incredibly successful over the fall. After seeing a lot of the 02 Crush this season I have nothing but positive things to say about the skillset of the team and feel they are a team to beat in Indiana regardless of being a young 12U team.

01 Edge and 01 Dreams are a close second. That being said the 01 Edge has been playing some 14U indoor ball which has surely sharpened their skills.

It is a great group and it will be a blast to see how it turns out. I am sure there is a great team in the pack somewhere I just haven't seen.

Tourney Results from March Madness in Fort Wayne this past weekend. A lot of great softball was played. I think everyone there would agree that the 4 Michigan teams were good teams and added to the validity of the tourney. Top 4:
1st Indiana Smash
2nd Indiana Gators 01
3rd Indiana Zephyrs
4th Michigan Batbusters
5th Michigan Ice Blue and Michigan Hurricanes Black
I saw many of the games over the 3 day weekend and thought there were many highlights and low lights. The best game of the weekend was the game between the Smash and Zephyrs in the semi-final game. This game went eight innings and almost two hours. It was a hitting/pitching battle. The Smash prevailed in the second international tie-break, but clearly the young Zephyr team can play ball. The Smash ultimately won the tourney against the Gators 9-8.
Surprisingly, the Hoosier Crush 02 was out in 3 (winning only one game and struggled to put runs on the board). Indy Crush 02 was out in 4 going 2-2 (losing two close ones to Michigan's Hurricanes and Great Lakes Lightning).
