2013-14 top 12u teams?

by Kidcanhit02 » Thu Apr 10, 2014 5:06 am

In addition to the solid performance by the 03 Gator team, the 02 Gator team finished 3rd in its 10 team pool at the Carrollton Classic in Carrollton, GA. With a record of 4-3 against a pool made up entirely of teams from the south the 02 Gators also gave up the 7th fewest runs of the 40 teams at the tournament. Though the finish was one place away from qualifying for bracket play, finishing 3rd in a pool as a 2002 team is a solid performance given the level of competition. The only other 02 team to finish as high as the Gators was the Birmingham Thunderbolts 02 who also finished 3rd in their 10 team pool with a 4-3 record.

I believe the performances of the 02 and 03 Gators teams is indicitive of the amount of work everyone is doing within the polar vortex of Indiana to close the gap between Indiana teams and teams from the south.

In addition to these Gator Teams the 12U Indiana Magic and the 10U Gator Stevenson team were also at the Carrollton Classic and were competitive in their respective pools.

Good luck to everyone playing this weekend!

No they weren't.
IN Magic finished 1-6 with a run differential of negative 29.
Gators Stevenson was 1-5 with a RD of -19.

Thank you to Kidcanhit for the kind words on us at the Carrollton Classic. Gators 02 performed well down there. We unfortunately did not do as well as I would have liked, but it was our first outdoor tournament since the winter against very good competition. I would go 1-6 again if I had to with the information I was able to get as a coach down there. We played subpar all weekend always seeming like at anytime we would get it going. The game we did win was against the Misfits 01 7-5 in 2 tiebreakers. They eventually won the pool we were in. Our other scores we competed well just could not get our bats going.
Loss - Atlanta Vipers 6-0
Loss - Chaos Elite 6-4 (we were up 4-0 in last inning and fell apart)
Win - Misfits 01 7-5
Loss - Gainsville Gold (Florida ASA state Champions) 5-0
Loss TPS Thunder 4-1
Loss Georgia Select 11-4
Loss Game on 6-0
We feel that if we could of got at least one practice outside it may have helped let alone if we played a tourney or two first.
Very proud of my teams season so far and we will be fine. Thanks Gold Elite ;)
Everyone has a plan untill they get punched in the mouth- Mike Tyson

If you leave the ladle in the pot, I assume it is ready to be stirred. Besides, all I did was express my opinion "no they weren't" and post the facts. Facts that anyone with half a brain could confirm.

I will say this, I think it's great that all the teams went south for this tournament. It is quite an experience. And I'm sure they all learned more about themselves and their teams then they could have imagined.
